  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

yesterday my daughter brought home a new baby budgie and cage. The budgie is yellow and black, her name is Abby from a character from Er. Today Laura went to buy a new visions cage which is huge. Lucca my other budgie is in that cage now. Is it ok to slowly introduce the two budgies in the same cage.We have 4 cages and 3 birds

Sorry, country_woman, are you asking whether or not to house them together, or just about getting them acquainted inside a cage?

They sound like they get alone fine, take time though. I used to have to birds both brought at different time- one was an english budgie the other an Australian budgie.

The english one we brought later and she had learnt to copy the puppies yelping in the Pet shop.

The two were best mates.
They even produced an egg, but nothing happened because we didn't have nesting material or plained for a baby bird.

They kept kissing each other.
They were both blue birds. Peter the smaller one was light blue. Shammy was dark blue.

Peter was also used to a green budgie.

Is it ok to house them together . Last night we had both budgies out together and watching them. Lucca the blue budgie is scared of Abby. we kept them in the same cage and they both were fine. This new cage is a Visions 210, It comes with the stand, perches,a bath, and seed/water cups.

Birds are flock oriented, so you could easily house them together without problem. Just keep in mind it is vital to foster your relationshp with them for several hours each and every day so they maintain human tolerance. I, personally, would avoid nurturing a nesting bond unless they are the same sex (which you can't tell in a young bap), and simply allow them to enjoy a birdy friendship during the daytime on stands, a neutral cage, or some other territory.

I have always read that it is better to place them in seperate cages, placed side-by-side until you see they are curious and interested about each other. I am thinking of getting my budgie Buddy a companion once he is completely tame and at ease, so the new bird will take his cues about people from him,and that is how I plan to do it. Many "bird people' wouldn't even have them in the same room until the new bird had been quarantined for a period,to be sure it is healthy.

You know what, soblessed53, big kudos to you for bringing that up! You're absolutely right about quarantine. Those birds should have no contact for 40 days after both being given vet-checks with standard blood, crop, and feces cultures. You shouldn't even wear the same clothes between handling one and the other.
