  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi im Rivers48, from Australia. I registered this account ages ago but never used it but something has brought me back to this site.

Me and my wife have been going through a tough time spiritually lately, not going to church, hardly praying, reading the bible. It just seems that everything spiritual is in a slump and there is no one to reach out to about it.

Long story put short is that I have schizophrenia and have been unwell for the past year and a half, we are both still young, my wife is just about to complete uni and im just starting up some studies again now that im semi well and able to put some time into that. The thing that gets us both the most is that no one seems to care that im not well. At least they dont express it in words anyway. Mental illness it seems is just put to the side in conversations people just forget that it is something that is a big burdon on peoples lifes.

Im not expecting a "here is how you fix it" response from anyone but felt the need to come and rant a bit about our situation and to see if anyone else is in a similar situation.

Thanks for reading :)

Hi, my name is Zack and I feel bad that you're struggling so much, God loves you, just try to pray and read the Bible. I have been struggling for a while too and even right now I'm struggling with my thoughts. God is good and please pray for me that I will stay close to God and that He will forgive all of my sins, God bless and Jesus is Lord.

Hey, welcome to CF.

Brother, what's gotten your spiritual life dry? Do you know how it got this way? God's grace is very important when struggling with mental illness, and makes a huge difference.

My husband has been ill (neurological and mechanical) for around five years now. People showed concern at first, when things were a little dramatic, but the concern quickly dried up. It alarmed me how little people cared. Even his (grown up) children didn't make contact when he was given weeks to live! I came to the conclusion that most people find ways to protect themselves from unpleasant things including the suffering of others. Finding ways to blame the victim seems to be the number one way. With mental illness people also feel awkward about mentioning or talking about it? It might seem rude to ask 'How's the schizophrenia?' or maybe we are giving you the Special Look we reserve for those suffering from mental illness as we ask pointedly 'How are you?' and you are not picking up on it. It must be really hard for both you and your wife and I really hope you can find some comfort and strength through prayer and that God brings genuinely caring people into your lives. May God bless you and keep you strong.

Hi. I saw your post and thought I would respond to it. I attend a church called the Revival Fellowship where there are many testimonies of healings including schizophrenia.

Hi; good to see you; God bless His Word to you and your wife. John chapter 14 and Psalm 46 are very strengthening passages.

(So Australia? I had a cousin in Brisbane, QLD.)

I am new to the forum but I wanted to welcome you. People don't know how to deal with mental illness, I have bipolar disorder and I have been through the same thing. I pray that you and your wife find renewed interest and inspiration in God's word and great love for you.
