  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Israeli officials have grown increasingly concerned that Iran is expanding production of its ballistic missile program, which was damaged by Israeli military strikes earlier this year, and are preparing to brief President Donald Trump about options for attacking it again, according to a person with direct knowledge of the plans and four former U.S. officials briefed on the plans.

Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are expected to meet later this month in Florida at the president’s Mar-a-Lago estate. At that meeting, the sources said, Netanyahu is expected to make the case to Trump that Iran’s expansion of its ballistic missile program poses a threat that could necessitate swift action.

Hopefully Trump is paying very close attention to the division that's happening in his party over these sorts of matters.
(JD Vance is probably playing closer attention, he's the one the who's going to get the negative consequences if Trump's actions on these sort of things leave him in a situation of trying to run in 2028 with a fractured voter base)

I hope Trump doesn't pay attention to what this does to his party. (Ah, who am I kidding, he won't.)
I'm hoping that there's enough fracturing that happens in both of the Duopoly parties that it necessitates a 3rd party. But that's probably wishful thinking on my part.

Only reason I see a tiny sliver of a chance for that happening?

Carlson's speech (specifically about GOP politicians/pundits getting dog-walked by Israel, and how conservatives shouldn't be holding animus toward Muslims purely based on what Israel says) at the TPUSA event got a mixture of cheers and boos, and Cenk Uygur (very progressive) of the Young Turks who's big in the pro-Bernie and pro-Mamdani circles, gave a somewhat glowing review of what Carlson had to say at that event, and went as far as saying that people like Carlson have moved the needle more on that issue (in a meaningful way) than any of his fellow progressives or mainstream media outlets.

Which is true... obviously criticisms of the US unconditionally backing whatever Israel wants to do (and giving them the money and bombs to do it) has been criticized heavily in the progressive sphere, but they're preaching to the amen corner who already agreed with them. The fact that a few conservative voices have turned about 30-35% of the conservative voters on that issue present the opportunity for a "populist coalition" of sorts.
