Tuesday’s attack by Iran on Israel could shift the scales in the already extremely tense situation in the Middle East as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed Tehran “will pay.”

Up until now, Iran has mostly used its proxies in the region — Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen — to strike against Israel.

When it attacked Israel directly in April, after accusing it of bombing its diplomatic complex in Syria, the assault appeared designed for effect rather than impact.

Tuesday’s missile strikes seemed different.

The Pentagon said Iran’s attack on Tuesday was twice as large as Iran’s last barrage against Israel in April. Tehran said the barrage was a response to the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and others. It came just hours after Israel announced it launched “limited and localized” ground operation against Hezbollah in Lebanon — something that would have been seen by Iran as a major escalation.

...Israeli officials reportedly emphasized that the country would retaliate for any strike, "no matter how small or large" the impact, and even if there were no casualties. Earlier in the day, military analysts indicated that Israel is seriously considering striking Iran’s nuclear facilities, a possibility under greater discussion than at any point in the past decade.
Ynet analyst Nadav Eyal noted that Iran's two main deterrent forces, Hezbollah and Hamas, have been severely weakened, limiting Tehran's ability to respond to a potential Israeli strike. "But that could change for the worse," Eyal wrote, adding that political timing—especially the current U.S. administration's reluctance to veto Israeli actions—could be a factor. He argued that the recent Iranian attack might strengthen voices in Israel advocating for a preemptive strike on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

The IDF announced plans for significant retaliatory strikes across the Middle East, though it did not specify if these would target Iran. "There is no damage to the Air Force’s capabilities—neither to aircraft, defense systems, nor detection systems. Tonight, and in the coming hours, the Air Force will strike throughout the Middle East with force," a military spokesperson said

An eye for an eye makes the world go blind. This conflict has done nothing positive for anyone. It has not weaken the resolve of any side. It has not proven who is right. It has not proven to protect lives. It has not bring the region closer in friendship. All this is doing is pushing the world towards a slow and painful demise.

How about Hamas putting babies in ovens and burning them???? Or slaughtering women and children in a elementary school, or digging a 2 mile tunnel. Or launching missiles in residential areas that kicked off this war. Sorry, but Hamas is the problem, that terrorist organization that hides behind it's citizens and rape women.

If the core motivation were just tit for tat "getting the last word" (so to speak), then perhaps it would be a different story.

Citing the eye for an eye adage would imply that there's some desire by the parties involved in "bringing the region closer to friendship". I don't think there is.

That why wars that are religiously-rooted in nature are tougher to handle diplomatically than wars fought over "stuff"...when one side's desire is for the other not to exist, it's a little harder to sit people down at the negotiating table and come up with a compromise.

If it were purely a territorial dispute where one side said "we want 70% of this land", and the other said "we only want you to have 40%", you can pitch numbers that are between those two in hopes that there is something both sides an live with.

However, "my religion dictates that you shouldn't exist, and it's my divine duty to facilitate that", there's not really any middle ground in that type of scenario.

There is no going back, Iran is the lynchpin to this whole mess with Hamas and Hezbollah. The sooner the West wakes up to that and the sooner Israel and the West eradicate the Ayatollah's terrorist government the better. Israel has been fighting the West's war for decades, we have helped with finance and weapons, but eventually we are going to need to do more.

If Russia wasnt tied up in Ukr, I suspect Iran would be their anti west proxy just like Hezb is Iran's. Maybe this is the best possible time for war, from Israel's perspective.

It may be more serious than we're being told by Netanyahu and thereby effecting their ability to effectively make them pay. There’s reports that the missile strike may have completely destroyed air base Nevatim and their F-35 stealth fighters plus the Mossad HQ.

20 F35 were not destroyed, likely none were. That is just Iranian propaganda, propaganda that was floating around minutes after the attack. It seems as if none of the stealth planes were destroyed, and the airbase does not seem to be "completely destroyed" either - although it was hit and did suffer minor damage.

The F35 are stored in hardened hangers, and likely most (or nearly all) would have been utilized in the defense to shoot down the missiles, or at least flying to avoid being destroyed on the ground.

Satellite images obtained by the AP only show minor damage to the airbase and do not support the Iranian claims.

The hate for Israel runs deep starting from the time of Abraham and magnified by Mohamad's teachings.

Despite Iran claiming to have cause “Catastrophic Damage” to Nevatim Airbase in the Negev Desert of Southern Israel, as well as the Destruction of several F-35s; Satellite Imagery shows only Three Impacts within the Base, including one on an Unknown Aircraft Hanger which appears to have been Empty, and two on Random Sections of the Base.

Who is Military Watch Magazine and why do you trust their reporting?

They explain who they are on their website. I don't trust any reporting... that's why I said "may".
We should learn to tell the difference between bias and un-reliability.

Plenty of outlets are mostly realizable, but selective depending on their bias.

Others exist for the purpose of bamboozling you. They either want to believe false things. Or they want you to believe nothing at all for the purpose of undermining the capacity of we the people to choose our govt in an informed way. The latter sounds like where youre at.

Their slogan from the river to sea, speaks for itself. For those who do not know what this means. It's a eradication of Israel from the river to the sea; the entire nation of Israel they want not only gone, but eradicated.
