It seems nero 8 will not do much without some number. Wadascam. Have any of you bothered to get the number, and was it worth it?

Umm, you mean the Serial Number that proves you purchased their product? Of course it won't do much without it. And Nero just released version 9 by the way.
Not exactly a scam when you consider the money you use to pay for it not only puts food on the developers tables, but also funds new versions, keeps your versions up to date, and keeps them working on possible bugs in the program.

It was part of the bundle when I bought my dvd. It cost 20 dollars more with the software. I wanted something that would let me some very simple things. But they want an additional 50 dollars. I would have paid the cheaper price and bought Roxio If I knew Nero 8 was disabled. It is a ripoff.
