• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Sometimes my ocd makes me feel urged to witness to people. Now witnessing is biblical, and should be done by christians, but i feel as though alot of times my ocd will make me feel these "hunches" and i feel like i got to go witness to this person if i see them. Or if im passing by a group of people i feel compelled that i have to witness. Can anyone give me some advice on how to distinguish between the ocd leading me to witness and when it is the Spirit leading me.

People say I have OCD. BAd. I do not want to know if some Dr says I do. Jesus taught me something. Love him. Know him. And love people. Get to know them. He is in absolutel control of the universe. If you walk with him, when you are with people, he will help you "witness" to them by your actions AND words. But let me tell you, it is loving actions that people listen to as much or more than words.

I have the same struggle, not only with this but with knowing God's will. I trust God's word but have little faith in the thoughts that buzz around my head.
Read recently of a quote by Watchman Nee that "impulses are rarely from the Spirit of God." I know God sometimes calls someone to obey on the spot, maybe a part of it is learning to dicern between the Spirit's calm voice and those "impulses".

O.K, OCD is when you do things you really don't want to do, right?
So, If you feel you have to witness to people, but you really not in the mood at all or tired or don't have energy or if you really don't have peace along the Love that is required to "witness" to people(because people really see our behavior more than they hear the words), then it most probably is OCD. Remember God never forces us to do anything(including witnessing). We must be willing. And along that "willingness" comes the drive and the energy and the enthusiasm and the joy of The Lord. One thing you should not confuse though, If you have health problems and don't have the energy, you should not think that maybe It's OCD. In those cases You can still witness to people on some level(just show the love of God to them, for example), but make sure not to exhaust yourself. So, willingness and the joy and peace of The Lord is the key to witnessing, and not necessarily the words, but a good attitude along side the words.God bless you.
