  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Is the hamster walking OK? I have never heard of this happening before but I would definitely say to wash the foot well. Black Bear Hamsters are bred to be much more gentle than others so there is not quite as much of a chance of getting bitten. Some hamster bath guidelines:

1. HAMSTERS DONT SWIM! Use a spray bottle filled with room temperature water to dampen their fur. No need to soak them.

2. HOLD THEM OVER A SOFT, ENCLOSED SPACE. Hamsters do not enjoy getting wet and will be apt to try to escape from even the most secure grip.

3. KEEP THEM WARM. After dampening their fur, gently massage them partially dry with a towel.

4. PUT IT BACK IN THE CAGE ASAP. The hamster should roll around a bit then go to its nesting area to keep warm. Make sure the cge is in a warmer part of the house for a while.

If you follow these steps, there should be very little danger.

But before you do anything, you need to get a closer look at the paw, and, if possible, get it to the veterinarian.

Just an off the wall question, but what kind of wheel do you use? Is it one of the barred wheels? Or is it a solid running surface wheel? What kind of cage? Is the bottom a solid surface or are any of the walking surfaces barred? I only ask because it's not unusual for a hamsters paw to get caught between the bars while they are running on their wheel or even walking and break their foot. If that is the case, their's not much that can be done, but I would go to the vet to be safe anyways.
