• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

As I've mentioned before, I am bipolar and have OCD. This past Saturday I tried a multivitamin with flax seed oil, and have been having a horrible time mentally. Did some looking around on the internet, and found that flax seed oil can cause mania in persons with bipolar. My OCD has been spiking pretty hard this morning. Could use prayer.

thanks,
Mike

For the past 2 weeks, when I've worked out I've had problems with feeling like I couldn't catch my breath for several hours afterwards. Visited the doctor today, and they're referring me to a cardioligist. I've had problems with some spiking today on top of the medical stuff. Most of the thoughts weren't related to what's going on physically.
Of course, there has been some of that fear of dying stuff going on, but I'm trying to surrender my life back to the Lord.
thanks for praying.

Hey Mike,
Glad your getting that checked out. I'll pray that it's nothing serious.
Meanwhile dont' let the OCD get the best of you by forcing you into a checking cycle about this possible health problem... ie. internet searches.
Keep us posted.

I didn't go on a checking cycle, but did look at a website for possible causes to the shortness of breath thing. They said there was 1,250 possible causes, so I didn't take it further than that.

Hey, I remember reading on another post that you mentioned having panic attacks? Did medication help any of that?

I used to do that for every medical problem. Internet. Ranging from minor causes to major. I also used to have panic attacks. Fear. But once I started trusting Him and believing in Him, the panic attacks went away. Im glad it wasn't a long term thing. Continue to have faith in the Lord and know that you have people praying for you =] I'm glad you're surrendering to the Lord, for we know that He never fails.

Isaiah 40:29-31 is encouraging when your burdened, also Mathew 11:28-30
