I thought I would help this person out since she isn't getting a response in friendship court forum. Can anyone answer her questions?

I'm currently doing a research-type project for a class I teach (music
appreciation). The basic idea is I'm trying to find popular songs that have
borrowed tunes from classical music. A typical example...the song "A Whiter
Shade of Pale" (originally by Procol Harum, redone by David Lanz and Sarah
Brightman, among others) uses the air ("Air on a G String") from Bach's Suite
in D. So does anyone here know of anything in the realm of popular Christian
music that has done such a thing? I'm trying to explore all genres to compile
a huge list. Anything would be helpful!

Thanks all... :)

Fuga II from J.S. Bach's Well Tempered Clavier book I has been used for some pop culture Christian song, since everytime I hum it, people say, "Hey, that's that one Christian song, but I can't remember what it is!" So, there's half the information. Go pull out your good ol' Baroque music and see if it sounds familiar.

Have you not heard any of the recent rap songs? I don't listen to rap myself but it takes some talent. Every really tried doing it yourself? Probably not. A lot of rap songs now coming out are based with classical music playing in the back. Pretty unorigional but where can you go with something when you've done all you can do? LOL

I'm a music performance major, music theroy major, and music composition major. What's your point? Most people say that because they don't like rap. Which is fine, I don't care much for it either. But try putting a song together off the top of your head like freelance rappers do. It's harder than it appears.
