I should give you some background information before I go any further. I’m a 20 year old university student who has lived the average life. I have never been a faithful man and believe in rational thinking and scientific process for explaining any mysteries the world has to offer. I have never smoked, drank, or taken any kind of mind altering drug. I want you all to know that this is not some crazy story coming from a raving religious lunatic. In fact, I’m a little uncomfortable with sharing this story with my friends so I’m using the anonymity of the internet. If you don’t believe me it’s understandable but for those who do please help. I’m not sure where else to turn. For the past two weeks I have experienced 3 terrible nightmares. Not just normal nightmares but extremely lucid dreams that start off normal wherein I feel in control of the circumstances but quickly turn into vivid nightmares that can only be describes as “demonic.” Lucid dreams that stay in my mind well after they have occurred are highly unusual for me since I rarely dream or remember them, but to have these terrible nightmares occur is completely unknown. In fact, I can’t ever remember having a nightmare in my life until now. And yet I don’t know why or how my mind is conjuring up these awful images. I even make sure to avoid horror movies and video games so that I don’t get scared. I want to start out with dream #2. If need be, I can detail the other to dreams.

Dream #2

In my second dream I find myself standing alone in the dimly lit central hallway of my university’s music building. The hallway is essentially an L shape with the building entrance located at the intersection. The hallway appears perfectly normal but on closer inspection the entrance doorway is locked. I soon find that all doorways are completely immovable, and when I peer through the slim windows on each door, the attached rooms appear pitch black. Not knowing what to do I sit down in a chair near the entrance, but just as I look down at the floor for a moment, I see a black flash in the corner of my eye. How can I explain it… It seemed for a split second that all the shadows within the hall were moving!

Shaken with fear, I feel the urge to use the bathroom. Oddly enough, just as this though occurs in my mind, I hear the faint sound of a door opening. Well, the nearest bathroom happens to be in the buildings basement so I head down a dimly lit staircase located just to the left of the entrance. I notice that a pair of double doors that I previously inspected (which was locked) was not open. I close my eyes and take a step in and I suddenly feel the doors shut behind me. I try but am unable to reopen them no matter how hard I try.

The basement hallway is my no means a pleasant place to be in real life but in my dreams it’s very frightening. The florescent lights dotted along the ceiling are flickering and I can hear little ticking noises emanating from a hot water pipe. I proceed to the bathroom which is adjactent to the stairs. After entering I scrutinize my surroundings and can find no unusual activities. Feeling the need to splash cold water on my face, I turn on the sink. Clear water suddenly turns a shade of brown and I hear rumbling echoing from the pipes. Suddenly rancid sewage explodes from every bathroom facility. The urinals, the toilets, the sinks, all are shooting disgusting waste onto the bathroom floor, slowly flooding every inch. As the rancid water creeps near me I notice hundreds of insects (what appear to be millipedes and centipedes) rush towards my position. I finally break through the shock and garner enough strength to quickly open the door and run out.

After coming to my senses I notice the basement lights are flickering more frequently. Steam is shooting from the ceiling pipes than run the length of the basement hall, and what appears to be a black fog starts emanating from the floors. Even worse, I start hearing these harsh voices whispering some unknown language from the stairwell at the far end of the hall. Suddenly, the energy from my body vanishes and I collapse against a wall, staring directly into the aforementioned stairwell. Then, it happens. I see the demonic figure from my previous dream. A black shroud with read beady red eyes emerges from the stairwell. I use all my strength to move, but its like slow motion… I’m not getting anywhere. As I try to reach the basement exit, the demonic figure comes closer and closer. Feeling completely defeated, I start to cry and that’s when I wake up. I actually woke up crying with sweat running down my body. I couldn’t go back to sleep for the rest of the night.

In every nightmare the same demonic figure emerges. Never before have I experienced dreams that have a common thread. What disturbs me most about these dreams is how realistic they seem. In most of my dreams I have the ability to realize that I am in a dream state and take control of a situation but with these nightmares, it is impossible to tell they are not real.

What has motivated me to post this is what has happened after my latest dream. After my third nightmare (just yesterday), I came awake with the realization there where three long scratches that ran the length of my left leg. I’m not sure how they got there. When I went to sleep my leg was perfectly normal. I don’t own any pets that could inflict such a wound and I live alone. I even trimmed my nails the night before, yet for the life of me I cannot offer a valid explanation as to how I received them. I feel crazy asking this but what can I do to combat these nighmares?

maybe this dream is stating that you are running out of time. Life is so short and we all eventually die, and we don't know when. As a christian, i know there is eternity after our life on earth. It's either hell or heaven. Maybe these dreams are a wake up call. Demons are very real and satan loves to steal, kill and distroy. This is life is the only chance we have to get right with Jesus, and to have our sins forgiven. Im not trying to be preachy, but this is my interpration on this dream. God Bless!

Hi brother,( I hate to call you scaredtosleep) You know alot of people have come to a belief in God because they have experience the evils spirits out there. Kind of throws atheism out the window when having had an experience of demons. Many people that have had near death experience and it wasn't the light they saw but darkness and demons so when they came back they had a conversion because it was so real to them. Perhaps the same is happening here, the demons are real and they have come to people in dreams which in a sense can be a blessing if a person recognizes there is evil out there. I'm sure souls in hell wish they were scare about such things beforehand instead of actually having to live the reality. I had one dream of the devil and it was real, I have never seen such eyes of hatred in my life, absolutely terrifying and not a dream I would want to have again. It was unlike any dream I've ever had, I know absolutely I saw the devil and I woke up petrefied it was so horrible to look into the eyes of evil. I'm not sure why the demons are appearing to you if they are but I would make sure to get rid of anything that would offend God in your dwelling place. I would put a crucifix in your room and accept Jesus as your Lord and Master because demons can't harm his servants. So I would put myself under the protection of Jesus. Don't worry Life won't be too bad as a Christian you will be a new creation. When your scared say the name of Jesus, powerful, ask the Lord to cast away all evil spirits from your life and to help you be a new man in him, God bless, let us know how goes it.

Hey,

I believe that technically demons/devil/evil spirits cannot infiltrate your dreams; only your mind can decide your dreams. The biological makeup of the mind does not allow outside influences to directly affect our dreams.

In my opinion only two possibilities exist to explain the content of you dream: 1) it is God given or 2) your mind in focused (consciously or subconsciously) on things of this dark nature.

While it is possible that God has given this dream, the ony people who could why is you and God.

Instead I think you are thinking along the lines of demons/the devil/etc... I don't know if you are recognizing their existence, afraid of their presence, or just considering thoughts about them. Again this all could be subconscious and you don't even know that you are doing it. Subliminal thoughts are most prevalent during the phase of unconsciousness the sleep also occurs in.

To come to a point, these thoughts are real and are not on accident. No matter where they came from it is good for you to find out why. Read information from good sources on these topics, pray and ask God to reveal the meaning, and know that others are praying for you as well.

Demons are always hunting for people to prey on, they can infiltrate in your dreams, your life and even you way of thinking if you are susceptible, you see the blackness in the dream indicates that you have little love for others, and are more or less lost into what to do.

PRAY for PROTECTION, you see its the amount of love that you have in the inner of your soul that is your protection. If you love everyone and everything a demon cannot attatch to you, because the thinking pattern differs to much, two alike can interact so be sure you cast away all the hatred out of your life, pray to God for protection, and become a loving and helping person.

To see how demons interact with your life, read a part of this near-death experience

How often do you get these dreams?
It is possible that its just a dream, but also possible that its demonic-based. I cant say because I havent had them, but the fact that your not a christian and your asking christians shows they must have been intense.

Theres nothing we can really tell you that would help you, because your not a christian(to define this, it means to have accepted the forgiveness of christ and to believe in him, nothing else is necessary) and any way to rid yourself of this demonic work would involve you being a christian. Yes you could pray, but if you were going to pray for anything tell God you believe in him and accept him into your life but the problem here is you dont.

Or potentially going to a church that has the holy spirit moving in it at the time, and the sunday services are more diluted with less fervant servers of God causing the chances of actually finding a church with the holy spirit, going to it, the holy spirit be moving there at the time, and it being a strong enough movement to drive out the demon to be very low. Yet still the question of it just being a dream, you being possessed, or a demonic "harrassing" exists. And even still if you had not accepted christ, it would have to be a very strong movement of the spirit for you to be sensitive to it, and still the demon could hide even present in the anointing if you dont relinquish cerptain things. But this is just a random thought.

(hate to sound stupid but) have you done anything labled a more "major" sin than the usual? Or anything change at all prior to this that you didnt put in your post?

Don't know if these "dreams" are from demons, but it was demons that convinced me of the reality of the supernatural forces of good and evil and that chased me to God in order to accept Christ as my sinbearer. If you want to know more, see my CF profile page.

Please let me know if you have questions.

I should tell you I’m not really an “Atheist” but in an in between state. Prior to my nightmares, I questioned the existence of god. I didn’t register carefully enough because I really wanted to post my experiences but I’m not sure how to change my state in the User profile. I find it a little confusing to operate.

Do you think these nightmares are a sign of worse things to come? When my mother was a little girl growing up in northern Iran, a member of her village became “possessed” by the devil. Her voice was not human sounding and physical appearance turned grotesque. She was whisked away to a local church and never seen again. Rumors spread that prior to her change she experienced vivid nightmares. My Irish father also has had a similar story growing up in rural Ireland. Do you think that “possession” is real or just a mental state created by the mind?

I believe demon possession is real, just as it's depicted in the Bible. I also believe that Christians can only be demon oppressed (influenced). As far as I know, it occurs when there has been involvement with the occult, whether intentionally or not.

Personally, mine lessened a lot when I made the decision to trust in Christ alone to save me and get me to Heaven one day. Later, I asked God's protection from the supernatural and forgiveness for playing the Ouija Board and other occult things that I had done with my American Indian relatives. If I had had any occult items left, I would have destroyed them. And when something supernatural would happen, I told Satan aloud to go away and leave me alone, because I belonged to Jesus and He had shed His blood for me.

It took quite a while, but I haven't had any troublewith the demons, that I'm aware of, in years.

I mention all that to show you the process, in case you are involved. (It's mentioned in much more detail in "Personal Testimony" on my website.)

Also, many large conservative Protestant churches have someone on staff who deals with things like this and would be able to help you.
.................
On the other hand, at one point in my life I had very realistic dreams (pleasant and otherwise) - it turned out I was taking too much trazodone (an anti-depressant).

Please let me know if I can help, friend. God wins in the end.

I used to have horrible nightmares too. I had the same nightmare every night for three years of my childhood. It was terrible. There were demons in my dreams too.

I had an idea one night to try and pray during my dream -- to ask God to take the nightmare away. I asked God to help me to remember to pray when I was in my dream. That night I remembered. While I was dreaming, I asked God to take the nightmare away, and I immediately woke up. That night was the last time I ever had one of those nightmares.

I suppose that the enemy realized he could torture me with those nightmares and make me afraid. He had a foothold on me there. I couldn't change that on my own, but Satan has no power against God.

Ask for God's help.

Hi Brother, I think possession is a real condition but it doesn't seem to be so common where one would need to get an exorcism but it has occurred. I wouldn't lose any sleep over that or if the dreams will progress to something worse. I think its good to remember there is evil out there but to pray God will keep you in his protection and to not dabble in anything that has to do with magic or occult activity because then you are opening a door for evil to manifest itself and to put you in a state of fear. The Lord wants you to be at peace in him, pray he casts out all evil in any form from you life, we too will pray for this attention, God bless.

Hey brother, I hope that your dreams have gotten better, but somehow I sense that they have not (if you have dreamed them again).

We can be demonically oppressed without possession, and demons do have power over physical things. While in the Marine Corps ther came a night when I was awakened to my blankets being pulled off me. I pulled them back up, only to feel them being pulled back down again. I pulled them back up once more, now more awak than previously, and waited.

I glanced over to my two roommates, who were both in bed asleep, and then the blankets began being pulled off me again...this time I understood what was taking place. I pulled my blankets up again and then rebuked the spirit in the name of Jesus, and had no more problems...but I was awake through all this.

Recently I had been "haunted" by dreams where demonic things were taking place, and in my dream I was trying to move or rebuke the demonic presence but my mouth just would not open. Last week it happened again (for the last time) because as I was coming out of that sleep phase, I realized that as my mouth in my dream was trying to speak, my mouth in real life was also trying to speak and rebuke the demon...only this time I understood what was going on. I now have a daughter, and in my dream she was crying out for fear because of a doll sitting in the middle of her room that was a monkey. She doesn't have a monkey doll, and never has. This monkey doll was turning its head and saying things to her.

In my dream, I came running into her room and this doll sitting in the middle of her floor, that was looking at her, turned its head to look at me...I knew instantly what was going on and tried to rebuke but my mouth would not utter a word, all I could do was stand there trying to speak. I woke up and actually felt this presence in my room...and I got angry. i have had several demonic experiences growing up as a teenager with a step-sister who liked playing with witchcraft, so I know when the demonic lurks near me. I got real angry because demons have no authority over a true follower of Christ, and I was real angry because of the way it was making me feel....like you, helpless and powerless.

Through my experiences I have learned two things...#1 is that the powers of darkness can do almost anything to us IF WE ARE NOT A CHILD OF THE LIVING GOD. #2, if we are a child of the Living God, they cannot touch us (many will cite Job's experience as showing otherwise...but that was a singular experience by a man who did not have the Spirit of God indwelling him, today is different from Job's day. Before we are saved satan has power over us, after we are saved and have the Spirit of God dweilling in us, we have the power to tell demons to leave us alone and get lost, and they HAVE to obey.

My suggestion to you is that you are being demonically oppressed in your sleep. I would also ask...what university are you going to school at? Believe it or not, I recently did research on universities that have "hauntings" and there are quite a bit, perhaps you are attending one of them. Check on the history of the campus you are attending.

I would also suggest that you begin seriously thinking about Christ...you now have evidence of the supernatural of which modern scientists say does not exist (evolutionists, anyways). There is a supernatural, and there is a natural, there are demons, who used to be angels created by God for His purposes before they took to their own ways...you have your evidence for God.

I would seriously put my faith and trust in God and Christ ASAP and the next time you are "attacked" in your sleep, when you wake up tell the demon..."I belong to Christ now, in the name of Jesus get away from me and don't ever attack me like this again! Get out of here and leave me alone!"

Seriously, I'm not joking around. I will be praying for you also.

Blessings!

This thread is like my specialty hey. I know heaps about lucid dreaming and 'demons' and .. stuff. I used to fight demons in my lucid dreams and I have never lost. Whenever I have a nightmare(which is rare)It triggers me into going lucid now. Which I'm not sure if you were truly lucid because if you were you could go beyond the fear by simply either changing your environment or killing the demon.

Anyway..

First up don't stress about the dream. Thats most important because if you do you're feeding the fear, which will come back into the dream. Instead do the opposite during the day. Think to yourself the next time you see this demon you will be in full control and will fight it will all you cool dream powers. Because if your lucid dreaming you can do anything, which means whatever you think you can do. Its creation at its finest. So yeah... just imagine yourself whenever you think about it, that you will conquer this demon next time you see him. You must really visualize how you would do this though because if you don't you wont do it in the dream. Its like a rehearsal which will prepare you.

Anyway on to demons..

I personally don't believe in them.. well I do but they are basically only if you believe in them. Its all created through fear.. demons cannot survive without fear. If you place yourself stronger than them, then you are. Because you are Divine and they are not. They can only harm you if you fear them. I have had many many lucid dreams where I have fought demons but that was at a stage when I feared them. I don't hunt them anymore because I'm not being hunted anymore. I know that may sound strange but we are talking about dreams. hehe. So truly know in your heart that you are the strongest and are Divine and that the demon is simply an illusion to create more fear from the fear already in you. Crush the fear and you will crush the 'demon'. So go get him!

Remember.. you are stronger than any demon because you are Divine and they are not. It knows this when you do.

Well there's definately something going on with you. There is one shure cure for demonic dreams or possession or whatever is going on concerning demons.I'd advise you seriously consider accepting the offer of salvation, offered by God through Jesus Christ. The world is not as it seems. It is a battle ground between good and evil.Don't fear the good is the stronger.Experiences like yours can and do lead to conversion. There's a website that details what I'm talking about www.purextc.org. It's not specificly about demonic anything but it does give a fairly clear idea of how a perfectly rational and successful man came to know Jesus. It also contains an alter call that you can take advantage of in the privacy of your own home.Your life will change.Mine certainly did,and for the better.God has granted me freedom from the deamons of drugs and alchohol, and has blessed me many times in the two years since I came to Jesus through the site I mentioned.I will pray for you.

Since, we're in the subject, I'll share my experience.

When I started to walk more with Yahushua, I had more frequent dreams about demons who's intention was to kill me and eat me. In due time, I learned to fight back. In my dreams, in some cases, the evil spirits are not of much threat, so you can just fight them off as you would a fly and defeat them. In other cases, the evil spirit is too overbearing and that's when you have to know how to rebuke them, then are you able to defeat them. In the worst of cases, you meet the really overbearing demons where their very presence makes you freeze in your tracks. You need to know how to pray. Your greatest tools are rebuking and praying, so don't forget about Yahushua even in your dreams. These tools are great in spiritaul warfare. A soldier needs to have weapons and of course, they need to know how to use them and they better not forget their weapons or in the battlefield, they will be overcomed by the enemy.

Dreams may vary obviously and the scenario and shape and sizes of the evil spirits or demons will vary as well. Not to mention the intensity of the battle and the strength of the evil spirit or demon may also vary. The most important thing, don't forget about your faith in Yahushua. Call to him and he'll deliver you.

The first one sums it up good.
The most important thing, don't forget about your faith in Yahushua. Call to him and he'll deliver you.
To me this means faith in yourself. Truly turn inwards to gather it without fear. Its tricky but once you get used to it you kinda do it all the time and this will follow into dreams.

I have had the most wild dreams. I wont type much but basically once in a dream(my first ever lucid) I was hunting a witch. I got pinned down by her lighting and she killed my friend with it. I remember thinking when I was trapped 'how come she can do this(throw lighting)' and she called out 'Its all in your mind'. I then understood and stood up and threw a thousand tiny golden darts at her from my finger tips. She jumped over them and disappeared with a cackle. It woke up with the knowledge of what I had done in my dream. It opened my eyes to the fear in dreams and how to over come it. You must have faith in yourself and hold it very strongly in the mouth of fear to overcome the illusion. You are the top of the food chain anotherwords if you take control of yourself by placing faith in yourself. imo.

Possession is very real. Demons hate you, and they want you dead physically, emotionally, and spiritually. And Satan is also very real. I wouldn't be surprised if there were demons in your midst. And I'm allowed to say they exsist, because I've seen their work. They've been in me (not possession, but I know they were in me), and they've been in my friends... But did you know that as powerful as Demons are, People who are under the authority of Christ are even more powerful and frightening towards demons then they are to us. Christ forced out thousands of demons out of one man with just a few words, and he gave us the power to do the same.

I also think that the possession of that lady might have something to do with this. Also, if you've experianced anything occult, such as tarrot cards, palm reading, or those boards that allow you to "contact the dead", that may have something to do with this. There is no such thing as reading the future or contacting the dead. All the predictions from fortune telling comes from the demons, and the contacting the dead is actually contacting demons (don't forget that they're everywhere and are able to mimik anyone they chose.). So, if you've experianced something like this, then that may have something to do with it.

I'm glad to hear you're not really an aethiest, 'cause then I wouldn't be able to suggest this: Go to some church, and it doesn't matter. Just any church in your area, and ask to talk to the pastor. Tell him about these dreams, and follow his instructions, and (s)he'll help you. You won't have to worry.

I'll be praying for you, and it'd help me if you could PM your name to me. If you don't feel comfortable with that, I understand.

Peace, Love, and Joy to you.
Merry Christmas!
