Hi Everyone,

It's 1:30 AM and I can't sleep. I guess I have been thinking a lot about whats happend over the past few months. I graduated from Bible college in May and spent this summer in Kenya teaching youth ministry. My heart is youth ministry and missions. After Kenya I moved back home. All of my close friends are from college and being home hasn't been easy. My mom is overprotective and my stepdad is an alacholic. I haven't been able to find any job and I really don't have anyone to hang out with. I've started going to a new church that I really like. I've gotten to know some people but friendships take time. I've started pouring myself into finding a fulltime job in youth ministry. Tomorrow night is New years Eve and I still don't have any plans. CF has really been an encouragement to me. Anyone else in a really hard place right now. I could really use some encouragement and wisdom. Thanks for listening.

I spent a lot of New Year's at college alone, I developed the tradition of going to a special spot on campus to pray. Maybe take the time to give God thanks for His blessings in your life (even if they are hard to find, they are there) and lay your requests before Him for the new year. Try to guard your thoughts against dwelling on what you don't have, and direct them towards the thoughts on what you have in Christ.

Remember the old hymn "Count your Blessings", I find more and more that's something we fail to do and it's important.

that's so exciting you want a full time job in youth ministry!!!!!! things are rough for you now but it's only cuz God's preparing you for something much greater. i'm sure when you first went to college you didn't know many people and went thru the same thing you're going thru now. then you ended up with a lot of friends and an awesome passion for youth ministry. just think where God will have you in another 4 years this time?!?!? it's not instant but you'll be blessed and what's more important - you'll be glorifying Him! hang in and God bless!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I completely agree with lilray. You were truly working with God in Kenya and witnessing to others, and now you have to transition to a more mundane lifestyle and deal with family, work, etc. It's a rough transition.

I am currently doing mission work in Brazil, and know that it will be a huge change when I come back to the good ol' USA.

Maybe this emptiness you are feeling is a sign. Maybe you are destined for greater things in ministry, as lilray said, and that you cannot go back. I have a feeling you will make an even greater witness for Christ as you get older.

With Christ's love,

Emma

My mom does mission work when she goes on mission trips with her church and she is so dedicated despite suffering migraines and having lupus. I will pray for you and all the missions who do mission work in places either domestically or internationally.
