• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have recently found out that my best friend, which happens to be a girl, is real sick. she cant keep food down do to the fact that she never eats. she was a heavier girl but now has lost atleast 70 pounds, she said she wants to get down to 125, and she has a good 25 to go. I want to give her some words of encouragement and the word of God but she has different religious veiws as me, and i dont want to come off sounding that what i believe in is what she should. I am just asking for some advice on what to do. i am going to ask God but i would like to ask what others think. Thank you all.

Before showing her God's Word, let her know that you are seriously worried about her. Tell her that she is only doing more damage to her body. If she eats and continues throwing up she will damage her esophagus and it may not be repairable. It is hard for people to seek help on their own, so if at all possible let her know that you are there for her. Tell her that her appearence is not what's important. Then, begin talking about God and how much He loves her and how He makes no mistakes. He created her just right. Hope this helps.

well for one thing its natural for girls to want to loose weight but doing it drastically is terrible .. the first thing yu shuld do is pray for her .. second talk to her about and the risks shes putting herself in .. i say this from experience bcuz i destroyed my eating habits and im now a little unhealthy ... explain to her the risks and give her alternative ways of loosing the weight .. and most importantly be there for her =)
take care

I've gone through eating disorders ever since I was 12 years old. I started out starving myself because I was so stressed out and then I became obsessed about calories and fat and how much sugar was in everything I ate. Then in high school I started throwing up (bulimia)... I've been recently delievered from it.

It's surprising how many girls have it. More than you think.

My friend, the work of the devil is constantly at work. He knows all of our weaknesses and exactly where and when to attack. He can't win if we don't let him! We have the power in JESUS name to rebuke anything of the devil.

It's wonderful that you have a concern for your best friend, I mean what are friends for!? heh. Don't yell at her for doing it or anything along those lines because it'll only encourage her to become more hardcore into the whole mess.

She may be constantly empty, regardless if she is a christian or not. Maybe this can be an oportunity to share Jesus with her?

The most powerful thing is prayer, my dear. Hard, consistant praying. Also, try praying with her. Pray for her healing, and her salvation.

I'm going to pray for both of you throughout this week. ;)
