I am trying to get out of a sinful career choice. I am saved and praying incessantly that God will provide the things I need to make the break from this industry I am now in. But I do not know how to pray as well as I would like. Any advice on trusting God and patience and scriptures would be very helpful. Thanks!

Hi Princess,
Be encouraged, God is working for you and with you to see you reach the place He wants you to be in.
Two examples if I may:
When I was first saved, I was a drunk; like you, I was praying for release from the situation.
One Sunday morning, after a heavy night of drinking, I woke up and swung my feet off the bed. I stopped there and thought, "I don't want to drink any more". From that day I have not needed a drink, did not even have withdrawal symptoms.

A Pastor knew God was calling him to do a 10 day fast. After 3 months of attempting this he finally succeeded. At this point he began to see signs and miracles in his church, so he repented before God for taking so long to complete his 10 day fast. To his surprise God responded; "I knew that it would take you 3 months to complete 10 day fast; you are exactly where I want you to be."

Continue praying, get your Church to pray with you; do all you can; God will then do what you can't.

Don't forget that God hears all of our prayers, the ones we say and the ones hidden in the depths of our soul.

Patience, in the old days, used to be called long-suffering..they mean the same thing.

Jesus, during his Sermon on the Mount, reproduced in Matthew chapter 5, said "Blessed is the one who hungers and thirsts after righteousness, for they shall be filled." Just because you hunger and thist after food and water does not mean you will find it, but what matters to God is your will to stuggle after it for your whole life; not just for a couple of weeks or years. That is what fills us with righteousness. It's the process that makes us righteous. Our judgement will be of the totality of our lives, not just a segment of the best or worst parts. We have all sinned and thus are not worthy of God, but that is how we know that God is great, because he has accepted us in spite of our failings.

When I have trouble figuring out what to pray I pray as Christ taught us: Our Father in heaven, hallowed by thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Or for a quick meditation I say: Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. (from psalms).

Peace and Good luck

I believe God can lead you out of this career choice. The bible says,

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." - Matthew 6:33

He will care for you and your needs:

"Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things." - Matthew 6:25-32

Trust God for all you do:

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." - Proverbs 3:5-6

Do you have any other career skills that you can do?

Dear Princess, Hi precious one. I really believe you have to leave that job. My niece also works in a 'sinful career' and she sounds so down from the remarks that she gets. Don't love any part of it. Don't love the money. Do your best to get out. I pray a way for you will be provided. Tapero

God sees your heart and He will provide a way out for you.

"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." - 1 Corinthians 10:13

If you have skills for legit jobs, look there first. If you don't think you have any, go for stuff like grocery stores, video stores, janitorial, restaraunts, etc. You'll be surprised how easy that stuff is. Anybody can do it. And you only have to do it temporarily until you find better work or get yourself an education.
