  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Neat poem I picked up: Risk

Hi, I picked up a really neat poem, It kinda poked me and said, "If you just sit there, nothing will happen in your life, you will be a boring nobody!"

Anyway here it is:

To laugh is to risk appearing the fool,

To weep is to risk being called sentimental,

To reach out to another is to risk involvement,

To expose feelings is to risk showing your true self,

To place your ideas and dreams before the crowd is to risk being called naive,

To love is to risk not being loved in return,

To live is to risk dying,

To hope is to risk despair,

To try is to risk failure,

But risks must be taken - because the greatest risk in life is to risk nothing.

The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing,  in nothing, and becomes nothing.

They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but they simply cannot learn and feel and change and grow and love and live.

Chained by their servitude, the slaves have fortified this freedom.  Only the person who risks is truly free.
