In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was in the Navy, as far as I know, sailors go on deployments, quite often for up to 6 months. However, if they are stationed on shore duty, it won't happen. It will be a regular 8 hour working day.

It really depends on what job he goes into. I was a Nuke. And guess what, the navy has no nuclear plants on shore, so I was gone all the time. But if he is doing something like being a Yeoman or a computer tech, then you really never know. Depends on how much the dispatcher likes you.

My step-brother is a gunnersmate and is currently deployed to Qatar. He loves his job and when he is not deployed, he works all day on a ship in the shipyard. My step-uncle is an intelligents specialist and he works in an office on base all day

yeah it really just depends on what his job/career path he is going into...my fiance is in the navy and to tell you the truth i hate it...EVERYTHING is ALWAYS up in the air and can change at the drop of a dime...so dont count on anything...but that could also depend on how well he is liked and like i said earlier..his job
