Please read 2 Peter 1:3-11
"3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to[3] his own glory and excellence,[4] 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. 5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue,[5] and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 8 For if these qualities[6] are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. 10 Therefore, brothers,[7] be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. 11 For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."

Sin can definately cause us to doubt our salvation because it's grieves the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the one who bears witness with our spirit that we belong to God and gives us assurance. When we sin, the Holy Spirit is grieved and therefore we lose the assurance of being saved. Like Peter said if we don't add Godly attributes to our faith, we will doubt and we won't know if we're saved. And if other believers don't see these attributes in us, they may doubt us also.

We are all doomed to condemnation unless we come to really understand that Jesus has given us His righteousness as a permanent status and thus we are always acceptable to our Father who receives us through Jesus. As we live out of that assurance we can willingly embrace making changes in our lives instead if being thrown by our apparent shortcomings.

Jesus Christ has paid the price that none of us are able to do ourselves. He was good enough for us. If we understand how sinful we truly are, accept his sacrifice with an open heart, and believe the facts, we are saved and justified under him. Nothing will take that from us. It took me years to fully grasp that I had nothing to do with my salvation.

Are you guys people who support OSAS.

Yes, the bible is absolutely clear. When someone is truly saved, he is saved for good. Those who believe that salvation can be lost, make me wonder if their trusting in Christ or in themselves. I also wonder what kind of "gospel" they have believed or trusted in. Jesus said, "I give them eternal life, and they WILL NEVER PERISH." Like the other poster said, it's important to distinguish between a true convert and a false one.

Wonderful description! I think that people who believe that you can lose your salvation are "works oriented" and they don't understand the work of Christ or the resulting grace of our loving Father God. I am glad that my salvation is not dependent upon me but it is founded in what Jesus did for me!

Doubts are imo more supernatural than natural, that is part of the supernatural spiritual war we are in, the enemy's condemnation thrown at us to steal our peace and to instill fear. They are best fought with scriputural truth spoken aloud, "There is no condemnation for me, because I am in Christ Jesus and no one can pluck me out of His hand. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, who gave Himself for me." It's also good when you say these things to pray that all others having the same sort of spiritual attacks will also be free of them.
