Saw the movie last week and really enjoyed it. My wife and I are reading the series to each other before we go to sleep. I think anyone who reads the Magicians Nephew first will have a better understanding of who the witch is and how the wardrobe became a portal to Narnia.
I mentioned to my secetary that I was going to see it and she got all defensive. She started talking about about how evil the movie was. I was at a loss of words. She said that she had received an e-mail from her sister with a whole bunch of quotes from CS Lewis. According to her the quotes basically said that the books were written to say that a better God would have done better than the True Almighty. I told her that the quotes must have been taken out of context or that they were not really even quotes from Lewis. She just argued and made a comment, that Tolkien and the aurther of the Harry Potter books are both admirers of Lewis and that people that wrote books on witchcraft couldnt possibly support a writer for Christian books. Has anyone ever had this reaction from someone. I tried to explain the allegory and symbolism, but she just refused to listen.
I probably should add that she goes to a church that teaches that God will turn your teeth filling into gold as a blessing.
