  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi,
Just out interest, is anyone here participating nanowrimo this year?
Have you done it before?
And do you write religious stories? If not then what's your genre?

This is the first time for me. And I haven't even written any long stories before this.
My genre is sci-fi, dystopian world with power struggles between church and government.

I'm not doing it this year, school is being a pain, but I have done it before.

Last time I wrote a dystopian sort of fantasy novel but it didn't have any religious symbolism as I wasn't a Christian then, it was also really terrible. Although, there were dragons in it, which is something I guess.

My main advice is don't read what you wrote the day before. This sounds stupid I know but you will get discouraged so quickly if you start looking over your writing critically in the first few days. Take off your critical editing glasses for a month, it'll be so much easier :)

Hope you enjoy it, or enjoy it as much as you can.

I did NaNoWriMo this year! I completed it for the very first time! I'm feeling really good about myself!

Your novel (to the OP) sounds a bit like mine! Mine is also a sci-fi dystopian novel with an oppressive government, but in my novel, people long since ceased to be religious, and long since forgotten about faith.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and stumbled across this thread about NaNoWriMo. I participated this year and this was at least my 10th time doing it (every year since 2004 except 2014). I write a middle grade fiction series, so I actually completed one novel and part of another in November. My stories are mainstream fiction, but I do mention that my character does go to church and participates in a youth group, but I am very generic and don't mention the denomination.
