  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Um, I hate being embarrassed. But, okay, I'll give it a go. What the heck.

Doing an exercise in Junior High, it's this wheel thing with handles and you get on your knees with your hands on the handles and stretch forward as far as you can go, and then pull back to your knees. Well, anyway, I farted. Just a little one. But, I was so grateful that no one knew it was me, I can't tell you!

Another Junior High moment: I was in the drill team, and I was doing a routine with another girl for a grade or judgement (I don't remember which) by the coaches. And there was a handstand at the end. And I did my hand stand, but couldn't come down on count, my balance was so perfect. (a rare and wonderful thing at the time) And because I was embarrassed about the blunder, I bowed to the crowd. They laughed, I got a firm talking to by the coaches. (then I was really embarrassed)

Another Junior High incident: Swimming at the high school pool (they opened it to the public and I sware I spent my summers there) and popping up above the water, and my bikini top had come untied. (I don't know if anyone saw. But, I was embarrassed nonetheless)

3 fond memories from your childhood.

Hmmm. I'll have to think to come up with 3. I had a rough childhood.

Getting my first pet cat. We'd been told the entire litter was male, so I just picked out the cutest one. When Freddie later had kittens, we figured out she wasn't male. Henceforth, we just dropped the "e," spelled it Freddi, and said it was short for Fredericka. No name change needed.

In a room full of classmates who were convinced I was retarded, being the only one to get a 100% on a test everyone else had bombed. It made me feel vindicated.

Feeling a similar vindication when my uncle (only 7 years older than myself) ridiculed me for liking a certain song, then hearing the weekly countdown and my song was #1. I distinctly remember thinking, "Well, then, I must not be the only idiot who likes it." (It was "Black and White" by Three Dog Night. I was at the age of beginning elementary school.)

Let's lighten up the mood--inspired by Three Dog Night, name three dog breeds.
