We all have likes and dislikes about ourselves. Let's just focus on the positive. The things we like about ourselves, shall we?


I like my personality. I think I get along well with most people and am fun to be around. I have a pretty good sense of humor too, and I am able to laugh at myself as well.

I like that I am fairly intelligent, which helps me to carry on decent conversations, although I am hardly a know it all.

I like my hair color, blonde. Contrary to popular belief, blondes are not dumb and I have never dyed my hair, because even at my age, with some gray showing I LOVE the color of my hair!

I am a good problem solver and a good strategist.

My mind easily goes from the big picture to the details and back to the big picture again. That makes me good at organizing things.

I am logical but also imaginative - I sometimes see possibilities other people miss.

I am loyal to and protective of those close to me.

Some interesting experiences and challenges have shaped my character.

I genuinely care about people and am trustworthy. It is interesting that in real life that people must not trust that personality trait ... at least until they really need someone to depend on or to care. I've had small children who I don't know, come sit on my lap at events. My patients seem to warm up to me reasonably fast...the sicker and more helpless, the more they trust me...to the point where my instructors often point this out that I get people to do things that nobody else has been able to do.

I am the one who won't fall apart in a crisis or emergency. I can detach and get the job done and save falling apart for later. I literally could be the one standing there matching up body parts to individuals after an explosion. Some people see this as being very cold though since they don't see me when I do allow myself to feel.

And I like my blue eyes...mostly because I am a little bit vain and this is something that people remark about frequently.

But I like my smile even more...because I have control over that ...and know that friendly smile can change people...sometimes for a moment and other times for much longer.

This is a hard one for me, I have a bad habit of focusing on my bad traits.

Lets see: I have a good sense of humor and come up with stuff out of the blue.

I am definitely a survivor

I forgive others quickly, but do not forgive myself at all

I give money to those in need (this can be a bad thing)

I love, respect, and cherish God

I have been told I have a nice smile

I can really laugh or cry about anything. I'm brave to show who I am. I think of laughing as a smile that finally can't help but explode.

I love meeting new people and hearing about them. I'm shy at first, but once I open I just have love in my eyes. And it usually comes with some encouragement and explanation.

People often don't get me or else they jump quickly to thinking they have me figured out. I get a laugh out of this because I often don't know myself and have no clue why I might have said something yesterday. I rattle people's cages when I talk.

I'm also a protector. When someone is a target in my group, I'm there. I can turn on offense/defense and anger if needed at the drop of a dime.

But all is good because I tend to attract people who really like me and fuel me. When I'm with others I don't feel so alone or afraid. My emotions are ok.

Oh, and someone reminded me of God. I feel like I have a reb Tevye kindof relationship with God. I trust him so much.

Isn't this great? I love hearing the responses too! We are usually all about the negative. I don't like the way I look, I don't like this or that. It's nice to focus on the positive and realize we have lots of good things to offer too.

blackribbon, you said you like your blue eyes. I like my green eyes! To me it makes me feel unique because not everyone has green eyes. But blue eyes are SO attractive too. My oldest son has blue eyes and I just love looking at his eyes. And being a nurse and getting people to trust you would be important, so it's good you have these traits.

Dr. you have some amazing traits that we really need in this world. Most people cannot see the big picture and not many people these days are loyal. I am like you in that respect.

guilty, being a survivor is not something everyone has in them, BRAVO to you! loving God and being able to forgive is also a great trait to have! Being generous to the poor is lending to the Lord, so it is never a bad thing even if the people abuse your gift, God knows your heart!

I think we are ALL pretty amazing when you read these traits! What do you guys think?

There should be lots n lots of things that we like about ourselves...especially when you consider who fashioned you . God dont make no junk !

In the past I really struggled to do this, because I hated myself, inside and out. I found it hard to even find a couple of things that I liked about myself. When I looked in the mirror, I never REALLY looked in the mirror, because I hated what I saw. For the most part, I really like who I am now. Still have my moments where the old stuff kicks in, and have to fight it. Anyways, here we go!


Im a Survivor.

I love being silly and random, and making people laugh.

I get a good balance between having fun and enjoying life, and being serious when necessary.

Im passionate about understanding, and helping people. I love to encourage, listen, and support people, and by sharing my own journey, hopefully help them in their own struggles in life.

For the most part, Im very open, and approachable.

People who know me have described me as being like a magnet to people, like honey to a bee, and being addictive. After catching up with one of my friends one day, she said to me, "You are like a tonic, Chrissy. Whenever I hang out with you, I always feel so much better afterwards."

I love mah hair! Its taken me yeeears to get it to the length it is now! (3/4 of the way down my back)

Love my eye colour. Mostly green, but they change with my mood. Sometimes they appear grey in colour.

Ummmm...cant think of anything else right now!

Thanks, Michelle. Like I said, its taken many years, basically til I as around 42 years old before I started to see any positives in myself really, and to begin to like myself. Some of the things I mentioned I didnt see in myself til friends said it to me. I think its soooo important to tell people the positives we see in them, cos often they dont see it. I have a friend who is 48 years old. I met her just over 12 months ago, and she is just like I was a few years ago. She just cant see anything positive about herself. Its soooo sad to see. And she thinks she is too old, and the lies she believes are too ingrained, for her to ever change.

Yeah it's like we have a choice as we get older, we can get better.....or we can get bitter. Still our choice.

But I never count people out because I have seen God do amazing things in people I thought would NEVER change. Just pray for her when she comes to mind and pray for her to want to rip up those seeds of bitterness she has sown in her own life. I am praying right now for a dear friend of mine, who has cancer. She has done fairly well for the last 5 years but one thing I notice is that she and her husband are bitter toward each other. They both feel like they can't do anything right by the other and have shut themselves off from each other. I pray every day for God to show them and that they will choose to rip up those plants they have sown and have the kind of marriage that God intended for them to have.
