I don't know, it sounds like the old literalism-allegory/symbolism when it is convenient methodological switcheroo.
I expected that answer. How did Esau's selling of his birthright make him Jacob's servant? On what basis would you make such a claim? Do you have any Biblical support to back this claim? Also, as has already been documented, neither of the passages which Paul cited in Romans chapter 9 in relation to Jacob and Esau had to do with the individuals. No, instead, they both had to do with the nations that came from them, Israel and Edom.
That is an opinion not supported by scripture. Practically all of Romans 9 is Paul explaining election. If you hate the concept so much just cut that chapter out of your Bible.
i dont believe its required to practice communion anymore
i dont believe its required to practice communion anymore
Nah i just dont go to any churches and im saved so i guess its not importantIs that based on the idea that communion was given to Israel, and since we're in the parenthetical church it does not apply to us? That is the only reason I've ever heard for not practicing it.
what does he teach? That is not what Jesus teaches.
No I just don't go to any churches and I'm saved so I guess it's not important
Paul would be considered a Calvinist if he were alive today. He taught all five points. And he would probably avoid big "c" churches like the plague that they are.
Another thing I used to believe but do not anymore is that Catholics actually had something going for them. A read through the Bible and the grace of God cured me of that notion.
Says the person that thinks Jesus instituted popes and a sacramental system of salvation instead of grace.
LOL too funny!! Of course everyone thinks St. Paul was teaching about their interpretation of scripture...
funny thing about you poo-pooing the date provided...Cannonized Scripture came a good 150 years after, dont see you disputing its authenticity...strange.
Also, repeating ignorance doesnt make it true either...fyi
According to Gd it is:
not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Heb 10:25
Wonder if Paul raised any "tulips"
Seeing that you're going to answer for me, why even ask me the question? What is that supposed to mean? Because someone mentions "Neoplatonic" they are all of a sudden "real learned" and are demanding respect?
Seeing that you're going to answer for me, why even ask me the question?
Otherwise, I actually had already answered it.
Agreed, that's pretty much what I said here; "Well, can we and should we engage all of our senses in worship? Yes. Should we base our faith on what all of our senses tell us? NO."Faith is faith and worship is worship. They are not the same thing.
Well said, and best explanation so far. I concur, if venerateing icons gets you in the right frame of mind to worship then knock yourself out.I know of no Christian group that does not do things to get people in a better mind for worship.
With great faith or with little faith, mankind needs to be focused as our minds tend to follow our needs and desires foremost. Worship is not about our needs and desires. It's about God's desire. So some us us use things that touch our senses to get us focused on God and not on our problems.
When I was a baptist we had a specific chorus we sang to get us focused. The biggest difference I noticed was that the baptists did not understand that that chorus was holy. Odd as it was a directly from the Psalter.
Yeah, there aren't many nondenominational Protestant churches to choose from in Greece, are there?
Then read the post I made and that you quoted. No, I really want to know why you said it. It came across as disparaging education.
