Mysearch bar argh!

Anyone know how to get rid of it? I tried adaware which didnt work, i scanned with bazooka which picked up cydoor, mysearchbar and Gator.

also, anybody know what this thing at the bottom of the screen is?

First go through the add/remove programs list and see if there is anything that looks wrong and remove it. It may fix the problem

Try this, but BE CAREFUL!!!

go to start->Run

type regedit and press enter

Your registry will open up. BE VERY VERY CAREFUL IN HERE. Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Then expand "software"
Then expand "Microsoft"
Click on "internet explorer"
Go to Edit... Find
Put in "Search Bar" and press enter.
If it comes up with a result, delete it.

Have you tried Adaware with the latest definition update? You should also try Spybot S&D with the latest update as well.

It may however be a browser hijack virus, in which you are best off getting an antivirus. I recommend AVG Antivirus as it is free and is meant to have a better virus detection rate than Norton, as well as taking up less system resources. As before, remember to have the latest updates installed when running it.

Also, get a better browser, such as Mozilla Firefox.

Yeah, I know what that thing at the bottom of the screen is. You have a trojan named betterinternet. I just got rid of one of those a couple of days ago.

There's another one to look for, but I can't remember the name of it off the top of my head. It's particularly evil.

Thanks for all your help guys. We got really frustrated and our internet stopped working so we called out a tech guy who deleted all this stuff and it seems to all be ok now.
