  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You know, this really isn't that tough, not for a mother. I'd save my boy. When you have children, you love them no matter what. I think its the closest thing we get to giving unconditional love.

( real question)
Do you own any pets?

Shoot, now you know what I'm getting you for Christmas.

Yes, I have a Norwegian Elkhound named Micah. I also have a grandpuppy, a miniature dachshund, Davidson. They are so cute, you should see them chasing each other around the house.

OK, we have you top achievement and failure ... but you've answered that question here before ... so let's get you thinking beyond what yuo have already thought out ... same question, but not list your top 3. (#1 is done, just add 2nd and 3rd place)

Achievements...

2. Getting where I have gotten with the DSP.
3. (Almost) owning my own home.

Failures...(do I have to do this?)

2. Not being a better: daughter, sister, wife, friend, fiancee, girlfriend, employee...I think you get the picture.
3. Not always putting Jesus #1 in my life.

There are pigs everywhere in my house. I have quite a few pictures on the walls, Ansel Adams in this room but most of the rest of the house is stuff that I've either painted or cross-stitched. I guess the overall theme would be country. I wish I lived in a big old farmhouse somewhere out in the country. I grew up on a farm, you can take the girl out of the country but not the country out of the girl.

You would probably like them. They are sooooo cool! The atmosphere is incredible. The smells, the sights, the music.....oh man, it takes me away. I would have loved to have lived back then. So enchanting.

If you could spend a weekend with any celebrity or politician, who would it be - and why?

You're stranded on a deserted island by yourself, with only a machete and a pack of matches. There is a cave on the island, but no source of fresh water, and there is only one tree on the entire island. It is a coconut tree, and you know you can drink coconut milk. However, since this is the only tree available, it is also the only wood source that could be used to build a fire.

Would you use the machete to cut down the tree so you could build a fire, hoping that someone would spot it and rescue you? Or would you allow the tree to stand, knowing it provides the only source of fluid to drink (via the coconut milk)?

I was at work at the State Police and me and my partner usually have the tv on for noise basically. We had on the Today Show and they came on and said that a plane had flown into one of the World Trade Center towers along with pictures of what they had at the time. I IM'd another colleague and told him to come in our office and watch the tv with us. Soon after he came in the second plane hit the other tower. We watched in shock and like you realized that this wasn't just an "accident". We watched as as all that horror unfolded. Then we heard and later saw the scene at the Pentagon. Then later how they had "lost" another plane and eventually tracked it as it went down in PA. Our Governor let the kids go home from school and let State employees go home to be with them. I came home to my girls and just hugged and hugged them. I remember one of the things that really struck me hard because I had been in the EMS system for a while...the beeping of the "man down" signals of the firemen.

Such a tragic day, one in which I don't think we'll ever forget. One day that I think will prove over time that "This was our finest hour." The way people came together, it's such a shame that our togetherness didn't remain.

That name sounds familiar. There is an Old Mill Restaurant in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. I took a really great picture of it back in 1987. I entered it in a photo contest. It didn't win, but it was published in a book. Here, what do you think:

Sheesh - to think that picture is almost 20 years old now.

So onwards....

Which one would you rather live in - a one room bungalow overlooking the Pacific Ocean, or a 3 bedroom apartment overlooking Central Park in New York City?
