  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

That's hard to answer because I've never lived anywhere else. So what I enjoy most about living period is the experience of life - trying new things, buildings relationships with people, and growing closer to God everyday.

However, when I come back home from holidays overseas, I really appreciate the sense of security. I feel safer here than anywhere else. I also like the relaxed culture that most people have. Then of course there's the footy, vegemite and meat pies!

Do you like philosophy?

Yeah, somewhat.

About 5 years ago I went through a bit of a what's-it-all-about phase, which included reading a bit of philosophy books. Strangely, at the time I never considered it was actually all about God! I'm glad I realize that now though.

I was talking to a guy at a party a few months ago about God. He was doing his honours in philosophy, and I can tell you that conversation really stretched my mind!

What philosopher, if any has influenced your life view the most? What theologian has influenced your life view the most?

Marx and Luther.

When I was much younger I was a depressed, right-wing, prick. Reading Marx and others who've followed him really changed my life. I developed a social conscience, became a bit of a lefty, and developed a much rosier outlook on life.

Now I haven't read anything of Luther's directly but his whole theology obviously changed the church immensely. Because of his work, I find the whole idea of God and Jesus much more understandable... God created us and loved us so he gave us free will. We chose to sin and thus break our relationship with him. So the only way to restore that relationship between man and God is someone who is both man and God, i.e. Jesus! And only he can restore that relationship, we can't. It's grace.
