My Struggle

okay i have been on christian forums three times before and i eventually am able to overcome my sin for a certain period of time. i struggle with homosexual pornography and i have struggled for a long time. i dont do it very often but it does happen. i dont do anything with other guys or anything like that, its just that i struggle with gay porn. i dont know what to do because even today, i thought i had a hold on it. and i just messed up.

i just need some help and encouragement that im not gay and eventually i can completely get rid of this sin and get it out of my life

Alec, I had a friend who was a pastor who said something profound. He held up a Bible one day and said, "Sin will keep you from this book, and this book will keep you from sin."

Wow. I've found that to be so true. The fastest way to put sin to death is to get close to God. Ask Him to forgive you. Ask Him to show you how much He hates that sin. Then ask Him to help you hate that sin too. Study the Word, get close to Him, cry out to Him. You will find that every temptation is put to death as you resist it--in Him.

Get rid of everything that causes you to stumble. Even throw stuff out and put a screening program on your computer. Here is wisdom, 2 Timothy 2:22 "Flee also youthful lusts, but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord with a pure heart." This means find better fri

Like Ariel said: if you stay away from His Word, you'll be more likely to fall in to temptation. I would suggest keeping a cross or a Bible by you and when temptation comes calling, start reading or start praying. You seem like you really do want to be rid of this sin--- one thing to remember though: even if you do happen to sin, Jesus does love you very much! I'm sure He sees how you're trying to avoid this--- you may fail every once in awhile, but keep trying.

I Just want to encourage you by saying that just because its gay porn doesnt make it any more sinful than straight porn. Why? Because every diversion of sex and nudity from its marriage setting is sinful. 1 cor 10:13 your not alone in your struggle. I have struggled with the same thing and just found a program call bluecoat k9 web protection. It might look like a childs web filter but it is excellent not even allowing image searches(a common flaw of internet filters). You wanna conquer this, you gotta have barriers. you can install this program and have your best friend be the password holder. we cannot trust ourselves to overcome this its only by God's spirit that we can overcome. The enemies focus on you is to make you think your sin is more perverse than anothers, well thats a lie from the the father of lies. You are a new creation.
