  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Some of you may have seen my recent posts seeking urgent prayer in the women's discusion or in christian teens.

I started university in September 2004, taking Biblical Studies at a Christian university to become a youth pastor. I thought about switching to history and becoming a teacher, but I switched to psychology and really enjoyed it. I decided I want to be an addiction services counsellor. I want to work with people somehow, or in a hospital setting, even if I am being a secretary.

I am most likely going to be kicked out of university for academic probation. It is only for a year, but I must go to school in September or I have to start paying my loan off ASAP. Moving a 3-4 hour drive away from my home was just too much for me at the time.

There is a community college 10 min. from my house and they have Addictions Services counselling program for 2 years! It is full but there is still a waiting list. That is my first choice! They also have medical transcription and that's open.

Another college about 40 min. drive away has GIS technician, which would be nice as well.

Has anyone else had problems with school, and trying to decide what to do?

I have been in the same problem!
Apply to everywhere you want to go that's close by, because apparently you want to be close by your house. Things that make you happy make you better in school. It was stressful for me to move and I only moved an hour and a hlaf away from home. I'm going back to my hometown for next fall as well. Don't worry about a major right now. Work on your core credits and everything will fall into place and you will decide what you want to do with your life from there. Are you a freshman at university this year? I am, and I've learned to be patient and deal with things as they come to me. But, apply to schools around you and see what you get into. Academic probabtion isn't that big of a deal to some degrees. It does make you work harder at your grades though. Pray about it and put this situation in Gods hands. He knows what's best for you!! I'll pray for you!

Well, to get into the community college all they want is my high school marks and I don't have to say I went to university at all. I called and asked them today. I have been thinking about going there for awhile and I wish I applied when I first thought of it!

i love the fact that i'm an hour and a half away. in the past four years, i've been home probably less than a dozen times not counting major holiday vacations. having friends in college is more important than having family to visit every weekend. cos family will always be around, but the friends you make now will have a profound impact on the career you choose.
