  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My cat is dying. There isn't really anything that can be done for her, she's just reaching the end of her life span. Actually she's lived quite a long life for a house-cat. If the people that we got her from were right, she'd be about 13 years old now. Me and my mom were talking today and we're thinking about having her put to sleep. She laid in a basket all day yesterday and didn't get up until it was time to eat....we had to shake her to wake her up because she wasn't responding when we called her. After she ate she went back and slept in her basket...where she's still sleeping right now. It really is a sad sight.

Well if she is sick take her to a vet, she could just have an illness. I have seen my own cats have similar symptoms and they were fine after medication.

In fact I have a cat who is sorta bulemic, and vomits often, she just simply eats and drinks too much then vomits, its very strange.

I have a cat who is nine, she sleeps ALOT, but she is healthy and content, and very fat lol.
reminds me of a gray furry butterball turkey hehe

anyway i hope and pray your cat is ok, i just recently spoke somoene who had a cat die who was 24! so thirteen is middle aged!:sorry:

I would take her to the vet...it could be something simple...But, if the vet recommends putting her to sleep and you decide its best...It will be difficult..but they are no longer suffering. From what I have seen it is painless and they drift into a drowsey sleep...I had to put my dog to sleep a couple of years ago, after she battled for two and half years with a tyroid condition that left her tired, no hair, hardly wanting to eat or play, she was in pain and I could tell...but on the days that she was feeling good and running around I would just say how could I put her to sleep look at her...but in the end it is the quality of life not the quantity....she had more bad days than good. I will keep you in my prayers and your cat....thats the part of being a pet parent we have to decide difficult stuff because our pet kids can not talk. I will pray it is just old age and something simple that can be treated with medicine.

Typically cats that last to 17 or 20 are cats fed on dry foods. Canned food cats last less time because of the poor quality most of the foods are at. They are made from meat that is the dregs of what pet meat ileaves. You can buy higher quality canned foods at the vet, such as Whiskers Premium. Dry foods are better because of the nutrients.

From the sound of puss, I'd say she has had her time. Check her mouth to see if it's blistery or rotting. Blistering shows kidney damage. Most old cats go because of kidney damage which will also explain the lack of bladder control. However, I could be wrong. Maybe she's hurt herself and is too sore to get up.

Either way puss is very unwell and needs a vet. I'd suggest showering her with love. It's more than likely her time to go and it's going to be incredibly sad. We lost one in this condition 6 months ago. Even older cats of 16 (like ours) go this way. Do your grieving but remind yourself that you gave your cat 13 years of love. Many cats don't get love and certainly don't get to last that long between car accidents and abandonment. Take the time to be thankful to God you were given the chance to make a difference in her life. He will bless you and help you deal with the sadness. If it makes you feel better always remember that when it is their time to go you have every right to bring them home to bury them in the yard. Some people believe it keeps them close. I'd suggest expecting the worst, then if it's fixable, you'l have a pleasant surprise.
