  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I would like to request prayer for my mother. She is only 59 and 2 years ago she was diagnosed with MS--the worst kind. I think they call it chronic, progressive. Which means she has no remissions really. She is a godly, spirit-filled woman who is trying her best to accept this and trust that it will be used for God's glory. She is bedridden, has no control over her bodily functions, has lost about 50 pounds, and has no muscle tone left. She has always journaled her prayers--now she can't write. Her eyesight has degenerated so much, she has to use a magnifying glass with a large print Bible to read hers. Anyway, she has had an electric wheelchair on order for 6 months, but due to Medicare red tape, and doctors forgetting to sign papers, it still isn't here. I don't even really know if she could sit up straight in it now, but I think just being able to move around her house would be so helpful for her. (My dad carries her from the bed to the couch every morning....and back again at night, and that is her life now.) I would like you to pray that this wheelchair issue gets resolved soon, and really I would like you to ask Him, if there is any way it's in His will, would he heal her or at least give her some improvement. And also that her faith will remain strong. Her name is Jean. He knows her well. Thank you.

Hi Christi ,
I am praying for your mother Jean...yes MS is a terrible condition and I am sorry to hear that your mother has been afflicted with this degenerative disease...I hope that she has a good neurologist that can help her as much as needed...Have you called her doctor's office about the wheelchair? I know that sometimes a call from a neurologist can help push through all that red tape...I hope and pray that it comes soon! My prayers are with you and your family, especially your mother! and I pray that your father is surrounded by a light of strength and courage during this difficult time, and for you Christi whom is left to watch helplessly, that you may be guided by the light of the Lord...and just know that someday you will understand all of our earthly heartaches...God Bless you and your beautiful family...with love and blessings!
Amie

Our Father in heaven, we pray for Christi's mother, Jean that she would be able to obtain the wheelchair soon. We pray that you would reveal who can be called to expedite its delivery. We pray, O Father, that if it is according to your will that you would deliver Jean from MS and all weakness of body or at least give her some improvement. We pray also that by your grace her faith would remain strong. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

Thank you all so much! I have come to a real peace with this. I have realized that God generally uses "bad" things to either show His power....or His sufficiency. My mother has always been aware of both. The rest of our family and friends have been the ones struggling. He may heal her to make us aware of His power. He may not, to help us see that He is all she (and we) really need. I think if I follow her example and keep my focus on God---and the knowledge that He alone knows the end of this story, and it will be exactly the way He wants it to be, and out of His love---I will be able to remain in this peace.
P.S. The hold-up on the wheelchair has been identified and corrected. So now it should only be a matter of having it delivered to her home and assembled! Thank you all!
