  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"Illegally" according to whom?
God.

Genesis 12:4 So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
Genesis 12:5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.
Genesis 12:6 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.
Genesis 12:7 And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.

Is there an actual law in place here,
Why? can't wait to break it?

It's actually called a covenant ... the Abrahamic Covenant to be exact.

Not the Canaanite Covenant? God made no arrangements before offering up their lands, eh?

They could have settled elsewhere ... like east of the Jordan.

In fact, that land was so fertile, the tribes of Gad, Reuben, and East Manasseh wanted it.

Numbers 32:1 Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle;
2 The children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spake unto Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of the congregation, saying,
3 Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon,
4 Even the country which the LORD smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle:
5 Wherefore, said they, if we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession, and bring us not over Jordan.

What I am saying is that either people wrote it who had no idea what was actually happening, or if it really was God, then it was designed to be understandable to them since they didn't have the knowledge that we had, so God had to dumb it down for them.

In either case, it shows that we can't just assume that the Bible is a clear and unambiguously accurate description of reality.

Meaning that God made no covenant with them before parceling away their land...

They could have settled elsewhere ... like east of the Jordan.

And when the pioneers came to America, the Indians could've settled elsewhere as well.... but I suspect such a resettlement would've only been temporary; Manifest destiny is a harsh mistress.

In fact, that land was so fertile, the tribes of Gad, Reuben, and East Manasseh wanted it.

No wonder the Israelites wanted it.
