• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Okay, I understand your dad is upset over your brother being a stillborn. Let me tell you a story about my past. My brother, was a Godly man. a Christian, and a wonderful human being. He was saved when he was around 12, and he preached at 16 and 17. My dad being a non-believer never ONCE went to hear my brother preach. and The church he preached at was a half a mile from my house. My brother was killed in a automobile accident when he was 17. Almost ready to graduate high school, he was going to college, already accepted, AVID guitar player, He was a wonderful young man. He died from being brain dead. But before he died, He got down on his hands and knees, (miraculously from what the doctors said since he was considered "brain dead") and recited the Lords Prayer, then died. My parents were completely destroyed and my Dad hated God for it. He absolutely dispised God!! He even told me once, that if God was a man, he would have killed him on the spot. One day, just out of the blue, God jack slapped my daddy into common sense, and showed him all his sins, all of the times he could have went to see my brother, and listen to him preach. But He didn't. My dad was saved that day, and He is now a full gospel pastor, and he's the most wonderful man of God I know. If God can save my dad, he can also save yours. I know your dad is hurting, and it's understandable, but don't lose faith in God. He has never lost faith in You. He loves you, and HE gave EVERYTHING up for you. I know I say that constantly, but it's the truth. If you only have the faith the size of a mustard seed, you can move mountains. All you have to do is believe, then just let Him have it. God will take control, you just have to let Him.

May God give you peace at this time.

love,

I understand how you feel, wackyjo and it's not easy to go through this. He has his part to deal with and you have you part to deal with as well. When you pray for your dad, did you pray for yourself that God will give you the strength to forgive your father for what he had done to you? Then, when you pray for your dad, did you submit it to God or you still sit there to think whether what would God be doing? When you trust a person, you have faith in that person and know that he/she will do something good for you. So, the same way, trust God and let Him have the full control to do what He wants to do.

*hugs* God loves you and understand the hurt you are going thru, and feels compassion for your difficult situation, are you aware of the fact that your little baby brother would be upset if his loving sister wouldn't move on with her life? That he wouldn't want your life to stop at the same moment as his life did? You shouldn't blame yourself, and he will always remain in your heart. God is a god of the living and everything has a spiritual meaning the soul of your brother is in a better place, and one day you will see him back, the only thing you can do for your father is to ask him to go along with you once every while to church. Maby there's a way to convince him but i feel that's not up to you, only God can do that.

 Hi wackyjo,

I know what you are going through also. I think that its so easy to blame God for things because you feel like since he controls all, and he has almighty power that He should be able to make this better. Thats a normal human response. Feeling like someone who CAN do something to help SHOULD do something to help. The thing is, God can be standing there for your dad to help in a heartbeat but dad has to be willing to let him help. The pain of losing someone is so great sometimes that we lose all sense of life and living and its so hard to get back, ya know.
God is a loving God and he wants your dad to not hurt anymore. Noone wants to see another person hurting that bad. But dad has to see that life is moving by and that God can help if hell just let him.
You have to "let go and let god". Itll free your heart to be able to pray for your dad and yourself rather than hurt for you both. Sometimes you think you are so far away from God, yet he is right there beside you waiting for you to turn around and welcome him back. He wont leave you, and he understands anger, and your wanting your father to be better, yet being angry at him at the same time.
Its ok to feel these things. Its a healing process that takes time, but to accept God to help you makes that time so much less and so much better. You can pray for your father everyday, and then just trust that God, in his time, will make things right. Your heart will soften with not being angry so much and things will become better and easier to handle.
If you ever feel like talking or need someone to lean on, my addy is {edited out by staff}.

 Take care,

Ange
