I created this today in Photoshop, and I thought that this might be an appropriate place to post it. The words are from a song by the group "Casting Crowns." I pulled the pictures off the Internet. I created the text myself. I hope that it might serve to minister to someone.

Live4HimAndLoveOthers,

Thank you. I do know this song and relate to it a lot. For me the enormity of the suffering that exists in the world has been magnified a million times since my wife died. Never before have I prayed 'Come Lord Jesus, Come' so much! I know that this is indeed the challenge I am facing. i.e. - learning to praise God in this storm.

Bill,

I cannot know the sorrow and suffering you are going through, and the feelings of loss you are experiencing.

All I know is that, when my dad died about 3 years ago, it was incredibly hard. For a number of nights after he died, while laying in bed, I would feel like I could not breathe, like I had a crushing weight on my chest, and I felt an unbelievable, suffocating loneliness.

May the following verses bring you some comfort:

Psalm 73:26
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Isaiah 25:8
He will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth. The LORD has spoken.

Matthew 5:4
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

John 6:39-40
And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 14:1-4
Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

1 Corinthians 15:52-57
In a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?"The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

2 Corinthians 4:13-16
It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

1 Thessalonians 4:13
Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope.

1 Peter 1:3-9
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith the salvation of your souls.

1 Peter 5:6-7
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Revelation 21:4
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.

Ever since my Christy died I have longed more and more to go to be with Christ and to leave this world of pain and sorrow. But meanwhile we must still live day by day. It is hard. It has been two years and it does not get any easirer. The pain is with me always. Not as sharp or as strong, but still there.

May the Lord comfort and strengthen you, and may you have a strong sense of His close presence. May you be encouraged and comforted by His Word, and may His Holy Spirit bring peace to your soul. May He work to fill the void in your heart and life, and may He richly bless you. May you know His love in a far more dear and powerful way, and may you find intimacy in a closer relationship with Him.

Some how each new day comes and goes. I know it must be the Lord working His wonderous works, because sometimes I just don't want to get up and keep going. Everyone said that this would get easier with time, that time heals all wounds, but I'm sorry it doesn't get easier you just keep on going.

I can not say that the pain ever goes fully away but it does become "different."

The memories kick in and you are once again able to speak without shedding massive tears of pain.

They are quiet tears now with a hint of a smile....a smile of remembering and trusting that your Loved One is free and safe in the arms of our Saviour.
