My conundrum

To put a long story short, I find increasingly untenable many of the beliefs "Conservatives" believe under the light of science. At the same time I find increasingly unbiblical many of the beliefs "liberals" believe.

Ah, I well know this particular conundrum myself. It's not a fun place to be. All I can do is encourage you and offer you my prayers. I had to get past the modern American versions of Christianity and rediscover a different faith, because the whole conservative/liberal thing didn't work for me either.

So you need to seek God's face. Why follow conservatives or liberals? Do they have anything to offer compared to God Himself? And as far as science, you do realize it is God's doing that makes us curious to know, right? Our greatest scientific accomplishments, He looks at us wondering why it took us so long to figure that much out, and encourages us to get on with it.

How broad are those two categories? Is there a space between them, whatever you want to label it or is anything short of rampant fundamentalism wishy washy liberalism?

My approach is that we are responsible for faithfully following the best data we have to it's logical conclusion. If God exists and is just, he will not provide us with evidence which will lead us to damnation. I fear more for those who limit the saved to people of X denomination who take Y view of creation and Z view of the end times and W view of the trinity. A just God may certainly use whatever magnifying glass we hand him to examine our own beliefs.

Many Christians love to point out the second half of the Judge not lest ye be judged quote, but I don't think they realize how little that second half helps their case: "For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again"

I suppose I would agree with the notion of judging each issue based on your own values and only then make up your mind.

It seems silly to me to base your opinion on a political label anyways, even conservatives and liberals themselves can't agree on what is what.

Simple "conundrum" buddy, think, and make up your own mind.

When you start looking for the truth and believing accordingly, rather than trying to support what you've already decided to believe, it becomes much easier.
