  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It all started saturday when I got back from a softball tourney, and I found my cat had thrown up 2-3 times while I was gone...he looked like he was barely able to walk, and I've found him just laying around. He seems to have no energy, as before, when I'd use my dustvac, he'd hide behind the couch, but he barely lifted his head...

I didn't know where there's a vet open Sundays so I've had to just let him be today, because I really don't know what to do! I don't have the money for a vet as I'm currently unemployed, but a friend of mine mentioned that if I take him to the Humane Society here in Toronto, I'd have to give him up permanently, but they'd take care of him, foot the medical bill and make sure he was okay, and he'd be put up for adoption when he's better...I'm having to give him up anyways because I've been getting more allergy symptoms from him and one of my other cats that I'm going to have to give up (though a friend may take the second one in, which I'm glad for!), so it might not be so bad :(

I really don't know what to do! I don't think he's probably eaten since I left saturday morning, and I tried giving him water by putting drops on his nose so he had to lick it off, so he's at least keeping somewhat hydrated :(

Anyone know what might be wrong? Any suggestions on what I can do? I just want him to be well, and okay, regardless of whether I have him or not :(

In the meanwhile, I guess all I can do til tomorrow is just say a prayer for my poor kitty...:prayer:

It sound like it could be the kidney, not sure though- try hand feeding him to give him some sugar in water. it will help if he has just an upset stomache. wait at least 1hr and then see how he's going- if he's perk up a bit-give him some wheet biscuits with water(hand feed him), rub his throat after each mouthful- you may have to hold his above normal angle as you rub his throat. it encourages them to swallow. its okay if he has a small amount to start with. then wait 1/2hr. then give him some more sugar in water. wait another 1/2hr-give him some more wheet biscuits with water.

Well, I very much appreciate the advice, but unfortunately, I won't get to use it...he passed away at 3:30am last night :(
After talking with my folks, and looking at the symptoms again in my head, it seems like he may have been bitten or stung by something. Him and one of my other cats managed to sneak outside the ONE time I didn't lock my door because I was just going round front of the house, and I came back to find him sitting on the step. Later I noticed a spot on his fur where he'd been licking because it was all mottled, and as his condition got progressively worse, he was having a hard time breathing, and I noticed his lower lip looked a little swollen...unfortunately, I couldn't afford the $102 consultation fee for a vet, so I woulda had to wait til the morning anyways, but I'm at least glad I got to sit by him and try and comfort him until the end.

A sad, sad day :(

Thank you, I appreciate it :)
Thankfully, I don't see it as my fault. There was nothing I could really do...At one point last night though, I kept thinking I wasn't doing enough for him, like I had called various pet emergency #s, but it woulda cost me more than I have to just get him in to SEE a vet, let alone whatever it woulda cost to make him better.
I'm just thankful that, although it was tough and I was so upset when it happened, that I'd managed to stay awake long enough to stay with him and try and comfort him til he passed. I know he's in a better place now :)

Awh, thanks all...I appreciate it :)
The thing is, I haven't been as sad as I thought I'd be. I'd prayed most of that night for God to grant mercy on him and not let him suffer, and I feel like that was answered, which makes me glad, because I know he's alright now :)
I'm glad I've got some pictures of him still though...he was such a suck too, moreso than my other cats..it's taking a little getting used to.
But thanks for all your well-wishes folks, I hope you and your pets don't have to go through anything similar!
God bless!

I am so sorry to hear that your precious cat passed on!!!! I will pray for you to have peace at this time. :prayer:

I love and adore all animals. I work at an animal hospital. Everytime a pet passes on I grieve. I thought it would get easier to deal with as the years pass, but it doesn't.

Our pets are beloved members of our family. God has given us dominion over them and I see that as a HUGE responsibility to protect them and give them peaceful lives (like you did for your kitty!)

God Bless you!!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your pet. It kinda sounds like he was bit by a poisonous snake or spider of some kind. Or possibly was stung by a scorpion or something if you have those in your area.
