  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Since I'm always making the point that scientists can't find 2,000,000 Jews in a desert, let alone Noah's Ark, or a Babe in a manger or whatever; I thought I would help them out by posting this passage of Scripture.

Archeology is about finding things in the ground. Not in a book.
Off course, you can't find things that aren't there...

It's almost as if God had scientists in mind when He commanded Moses to keep a log.

Or it's almost like these events never took place...

It's adorable how you apparantly think that people who actually went to the desert to seek confirmation of this story, aren't aware of this story.

Find 2,000,000 Jews [okay, Hebrews] in the desert.

Your science can't do it, even with a map.

Lest these "ignorant nomads" make your high-and-mighty science look bad.

Scientists didn't find the house of Zeus on Mt Olympus either.

New Jersey?
He set up shop in Pergamos at one time.

Revelation 2:12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;
Revelation 2:13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.

It's interesting that Bishop Ioannis of Pergamos (2002), states that the theory of evolution does not present any problem for theology, and says it is acceptable as long as it proves that humankind is part of nature; intelligence is not exclusive to humankind but it only differs in degree, as Darwin noticed, and theology and biology do not have any reason to be disputed.

Maybe they went there, thinking it was a myth?

Apparantly you aren't aware that most of the people who have an interest in confirming this story, were those people who actually believed it. Christians. Christians, going on a mission to "prove" the accuracy of their scripture.

They failed.

To non-christians, this story is just yet another religious story. Most of them don't consider it a worthy use of limited time and resources. Because you know, as written, the story doesn't seem very likely.

In fact, it's rather ridiculous... Hundreds of thousands of slaves, simply walking out of Egypt and not a single contemporary source (Egyptians themselves, neighbouring states, etc) cares to mention it? Then there's also the fact that there was 0 political or economical impact in Egypt itself. When you loose hundreds of thousands of cheap slave workers overnight, that will kind of have a devastating effect on that country.

You see, there weren't 7 billion people back then. The amount of slaves that supposedly left the country, would have been a BIG portion of the Egyptian population.

During the first dynasties, the TOTAL population of Egypt was somewhere between 1 and 2 million.

Let's be (very) optimistic and state that during the time the exodus alledgedly took place, the egyptian population numbered 5 million.

The exodus would then comprise more then TWENTY percent of the TOTAL population.

And all those people somehow succeeded in gathering enough food and water in the desert as well as not leave a single trace of ever wandering through that desert.

We can find traces of desert nomad tribes of 20-30 individuals, but apparantly, all traces of almost a million people have disappeared.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Maybe they started looking for them at the Sea of Reeds?

Oh joy another resurrected thread! Maybe CF should institute a policy of killing thread if not posted for three days.
So in your opinion, a thread is "necroed" if it sits dormant for three days, then someone posts in it?

Well I was giving it time for the resurrection. But in the context of the forum a more serious suggestion is a month.

Good job ignoring the points raised again.

If dodging was a job, you'ld be a millionaire.
So my point goes unanswered?

If I wrote and said I crossed Main Street at the courthouse, and someone said I crossed Main Street at the schoolhouse, it wouldn't matter?

Again, it's adorable that you apparantly think that you are the only one who is aware what the scriptures have to say concerning this supposed event.

Did you even read the rest of my post?

I'd say you have just about as much chance at using that, as you do your most sophisticated equipment.

That's why I take your myopic science with a grain of salt when it comes to Biblical things.
