But it would have been neigh necessary for survival in the past.
No, it wouldn't have.

The Bible says ...

1 Timothy 5:23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

This would be grape juice.

Do you honestly believe that, or are you dogmatically required to believe it?

If you guys want to justify drinking, that's your prerogative.

If you guys want to justify Jesus creating alcoholic wine, that's your prerogative.

Just don't think for one minute I'm going to buy it.

You're not looking to buy, AV -- you're looking to sell.

Pity nobody is buying.

You are right. He didn't make anything. I will agree with you this time. It is simply another Bible story.

Did you know that there are Christians in the world where the message was enough and no cheap magic tricks were needed for them?

Sorry, no point in doing that with grape juice. It is rather lacking in medicinal qualities. And I did "QV". But a bit of wine just might do the trick. Again, why do you assume a lying God time after time? Grape juice is grape juice and wine is wine.

It's posts like these that make me think AV is just trolling for attention.

That's pretty much a given. Imagine what dire trouble Christianity would be in if he wasn't?

The Bible is only literal when AV wants it to be. If only AV understood the difficulties of storing fruit juices in the first century AD.

Drinking is a sin.

Jesus turned water into grape juice.

Then my KJV1611 bible is lying to me.
Then there is no sin
Then there is no savior
Then Jesus is not God
Then there is no god

The slippery slope is indeed slippery.

How else are believers supposed to maintain a God as neurotic and hung up as themselves? A God who loves what they love, hates what they hate, and does as they command.

Grape juice is grape juice and wine is wine.

Until the term "grape juice" was coined, "wine" would do.

Matthew 9:17 Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

Notice in Mr. Clarke's comment, where both types of wine (alcoholic & non-alcoholic) are referred to as "wine."

I know that oenology is not in your assortment of tools. Wine is not made usually fermented in bottles. Its fermentation starts in large casks. New wine is still wine. It may not have finished fermenting, but it is definitely not grape juice. There was no "non-alcoholic wine" in that quote.

It wasn't in theirs, either.

To make wine, you first crush grapes to get the juice.

In your opinion, what was the juice called back then?

Hard to say, nobody ever seemed to drink it. But fermented grape juice is usually called wine.

But isnt your view that english is the language of god/angels and that the KJV is inerrant?

And those who penned the KJV certainly held grape juice and wine as two seperate entities.

If you are right (big if) then either the KJV is just a translation of the originals and therefore prone to translation errors or your position on this is incoherent.
