Pretty significant I would say.

Is this not the end to creation science as we know it? I mean, come on: if God made chickens and toothed animals at the same time, completely separately, how can a chicken naturally be born with teeth?! I know it showed up first in a birth defect, but that just shows that the genetic information for teeth was a remnant from the species' history. I can scarcely imagine what Creationists will say to explain this.

Maybe they'll say that for whatever reason God embedded that DNA in their systems. But here the "for whatever reason" is as troubling as a lack of explanation, because it suggests either God's thoughtless caprice or His intent to deceive!

On the other hand, this shows once again that the theory of evolution is sound in basis because of its ability to predict and explain such phenomena. Evolutionists didn't have to sidestep this story or come up with an unanswerable question as an answer for why these chicken have teeth: rather, it is the best and most obvious answer for it.

Hovind said something rediculous about a tree growing a leg or something like that. Somebody else said that such an event would be evidence AGAINST evolution.

Could a creationist not say the same thing about a chicken growing teeth? If a tree growing a leg is evidence against evolution, then so should a chicken growing teeth.

(This is not what I am saying, but it is a point that needs adressing.)

I had this exchange when I cornered a friend via email by giving him a link to the story. He responded:

Creationist friend: The genome is elastic not fluid.

Me
: But where did the genetic information for teeth come from?

Creationist friend: It was always there. Just like the genetic material for a Great Dane and a terrier both exist in the timber wolf.
