And please explain how Jesus could say what He said in John 10:28 if salvation can be lost.
Invalid, I warn you in the strongest of termsPlease share any verses that clearly state this.
Oh yes, there are tons of NT verses,Hebrews 5:9
and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him
Hebrews 5:9
and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him
Actually, Adam (thanks to Eve)
gave dominion over to Satan,
and thus God allows Satan to be ...
"the god of this age" & "the ruler of this world"
so it is not as simple as all of that.
How much free will does everyone have?
Satan's is limited, but how about ours?
I have been saying that ...Even the notion of free will is extremely limited with God's control but yet we are still responsible for our choices. Like I said, it is a paradox.
I have been saying that ...
It's God's choice who will be chosen & called to be holy.
NO free will for man to choose himself for salvation.
But, AFTER becoming born again ...
the BAC must undergo/overgo? multitudes of tests
to see who loves God enough to be obedient, etc.
Who will practice righteousness?
Who will be obedient?
Who will be repenting of their sins?
Who will endure in his faith until the end of life?
Coming up soon ...
Who will fall away when being persecuted?
Who will submit to taking the mark of the beast?
It's all about having the correct and acceptable... being saved and falling away is permanent and there is no genuine repentance. So it feels almost like a burden to be saved because now it's "overcome or else!"
Yes, most everyone seems to mis-understand me
when I talk of "works salvation".
Such co-operation simply proves one's righteousness!
1 John 3:
7 Little children, let no one deceive you.
He who practices righteousness is righteous,
just as He is righteous.
8 He who sins is of the devil,
for the devil has sinned from the beginning.
For this purpose the Son of God was manifested,
that He might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin,
for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin,
because he has been born of God.
10 In this the children of God and
the children of the devil are manifest:
Whoever does not practice righteousness
is not of God, nor is he who does not
love his brother.
Well, I guess you're at cross purposes with 1 John 1:9.Only one has been 'born of God' and that was Jesus of Nazareth.
It's all about having the correct and acceptable
heart attitude before the Lord.
It's about striving to please Him!
If you love Him, He says you will obey Him.
If you sin, you will sincerely repent, and soon
(if not immediately) you will gain victory over that sin!
Hey, you know what "overcome" means!
It's not 1 John 5:5, for he is talking only
of overcoming (rising above spiritually)
the world of non-believers.
IMO, you have the right heart attitude!
And I'm happy for you!
All I see in this thread from the people who believe you can lose your salvation is a lot of puffed up boasting, as if everyone else is a grievous sinner and they’re not.
Sorry you feel that way.All I see in this thread from the people who believe you can lose your salvation is a lot of puffed up boasting, as if everyone else is a grievous sinner and they’re not.
Jesus gives His definition of "overcoming":I understand that there are two types of overcoming the world. One is believing on the Son and in Revelations the other type of overcoming is mentioned which seems to indicate that our actions have an impact.
If only I had understood the importance of abiding in Christ and maturing, I would not be in this mess.
No, but if you say that you have no sin, you are a liar and the truth is not in you (1 John 1:8). As a Christian, you should walk after the Spirit, but not every Christian walks after the Spirit. The Corinthians certainly didn’t as described by Paul in his first letter to them. Yet they were still called saints. No, sin should be avoided, but since it is impossible to cease from sin, it is why we have the Savior to pay for all our sins.If I was truly puffed up then I would not think that I am an apostate. Christians cannot continue on sinning. It's not permitted.
