  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

For any of you who have friends whether saved or not listening to Led Zeppelin, they really need to read the article on this website, fwm.org.uk

Their profile is on the front page or on the a-z of artists profiles!

God Bless you all.

FWM Team:thumbsup:

The article is nonsense.

It claims that Plant and Page wrote "Nobody's Fault But Mine" to promote the teachings of Alistair Crowley.

How can this be when the song was written by Blind Willie Johnson twenty years before Page and Plant were even born?

Led Zeppelin was genius. They pioneered the metal movement, and many of their songs are harmless. "The Immigrant Song," for example, is about Vikings. Nothing more. And the famous/infamous "Stairway to Heaven" is NOT about Satan. Why would they write a song about Heaven and put in hidden messages about Satan? And the backmasking myth is complete bunk.

I don't know about the occult bookstore claim. Where are your sources? Your footnotes? If you're making claims like that, you need to be getting them from a viable source.

This again? This guy posts this every few months. I'm amazed he hasn't been removed from this site for spamming his nonsense sites all over it with false information and anything they can dig up to make a band look bad. I've even seen people like this guy attack Christian bands. Seriously, FirstWatchMinistries, get a life and find a clue.

What gets me is that their site preaches about how we Christians need to stand together against the forces of evil, but they're so busy allying themselves agaisnt the percieved evil of secular music that they cause a rift between themselves and other Christians. They're so intent on forcing everyone to abandon all music that isn't Praise and Worship or old hymns that they attack even their fellow Christians, so we don't really ally against anything but each other.

Seriously, FWM, you need to get a life. Maybe you can use your....um, zeal to preach about the real evil in this world. No, that real evil is not Led Zeppelin, POD, or any of those other bands you hate. The real evil in the music industry is all those shallow pop "artists" who just put out the same old garbage and still manage to make millions of dollars.

Agreed.. not much more to say.

Amen. the first "artist" that comes to mind is Pink.... she has to be one of the most shallow out of the bunch... and i dont appologize to any pink fans out there.
The music industry has turned to absolute garbage in recent years. i cant even turn on the radio without hearing some 'poppy' garbage that has no musical value in it at all! bah cant be bothered writing about it anymore, makes me angry.....

What's the deal, people? It's no secret that Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page) has dabbled in the occult. Are you saying it's okay?

I haven't read the link here. I've read enough stuff in the past already.

It's one thing for a Christian to listen to Led Zeppelin's music. It's another to try and defend it, as if there were no possible harm in doing it. I listen to their music but it's certainly not something I take pride in.

That's an opinion. Your garbage is another person's treasure. And vice versa. Neither has the *correct* opinion. Musical taste is 100% objective.

Besides, that has nothing to do with the idea proposed by the original poster.

No, I'm not saying it's okay. What I AM saying is that the personal beliefs of the artist won't convert me. I listen to plenty of non-Christian bands, and I'm not agnostic/atheist/fill in blank here.

Well, if there's no harm in listening to it, then there can't be any harm in defending it. What I'm defending is my right to listen to what I like--my musical preference, really. I'm not defending the band's personal beliefs; what I'm defending is the fact that the songs I listen to don't have anything bad or anti-Christian in them. How can there be any harm in defending a harmless song?

So because they were sinners, it is ok to make up slanderous lies about them? That makes no sense. While there are grains of truth to the kinds of things those sites say, they are twisted and perverted. So Jimmy Page was interested in the occult. Why can't the site just say that? That should be good enough. Just stick with the truth, rather than going on a personal vendetta.

He opened an occult bookshop and bought Alister Crowley's old house. That is a lot more than just being "interested in the occult." "radhead" is not the one who's slandering others here...

How about directly from Peter Grant? If you don't know who he is, then I wonder if you're really a fan of Zep.

FYI: Grant was their touring manager, and wrote a biography on the band. It sits on my bookshelf as we speak, as does all 10 of their albums (10 CDs, 10 LPs, their original boxed set (the 4 disc one with the crop circles on the front)), their movie, and a few random posters in my bedroom at my parent's house. I don't own "Hammer of the Gods", although I have read it. I'm possibly a bigger Zep fan than most of the people here, or at least was while I was in Uni! Musically, they're possibly the best and most innovative popular band in the entire history of blues and rock music. Lyrically... well, on one hand it's brilliant, but on the other... this is what Plant had to say about at least the lyrics to Stairway (as is written in Grant's book), “I was just sitting there with Pagey in front of a fire at Headley Grange. Pagey had written these chords and he played them for me. I was holding a pencil and paper and for some reason, I was in a very bad mood. Then all of a sudden my hand was writing out the words: “There’s a lady who’s sure, all that glitters is gold, and she’s buying a Stairway to Heaven.” I just sat there and I looked at the words and I almost leapt out of my seat.” If you're a Christian, this should, at the very least, raise red flags to keep your mind clear while listening to Zep.

To the original poster, please try to do a search next time you post something like this. Christianforums is years old, and this same topic has been done numerous times.

I don't listen to Led Zeppelin because they stink, manufactered reasons are unnecessary.
To each their own. I take it you're more of a Britney Spears/Spice Girls fan? Even they've listed Zeppelin as musical influences... or rather the people who write their music for them have!

Ok, with these posts... I'm off to listen to Led Zeppelin IV (or whatever you want to call their 4th album) and watch LotR with Gollum and his evil ways.
