• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I was just wondering if it would be possible that someone here might have the same problem I'm having and could tell me what is going on.

For about a year now, I've been having pain in my muscles. There are times when I can't even write. My muscles will kind of tense/cramp/hurt, but it goes away in less that a minute. It can be pretty bad, though. Sometimes just yawning or swallowing will cause my muscles to cramp and hurt. Also, last month, I had a week where I was having problems with swallowing. Pills felt like they were stuck in my throat. I had some scary moments where a pill wouldn't go up or down and I was afraid I'd choke. Whenever I ate, I'd cough a lot and I felt like everything was going down the wrong way, and I couldn't seem to fully swallow anything-I felt like I kept regurgitating my food. Also, I kept wetting all over myself which is extrememly embarrasing and I just couldn't hold it. My leg also felt cold and like it was "falling asleep".

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what those things sound like to them. I am afraid to go to a doctor because I feel like I sound crazy.

Thanks for listening and for any thoughts.

I suggest going to a doctor, but find a christian doctor in your area. there is something going on that is not normal. how much water do you drink daily? if is is hardly any. i strongly suggest you start drinking half your body weight in ounces. your muscles could be very dehydrated. But please find and call a christian doctor, your not crazy and the doctor won't think you are.

Many of us at some point in our life have probably experienced a muscle cramp. The pain that it brings is something that isn't forgotten, and is something a person does not want to experience again. Most people do not understand what a muscle cramp is, let alone understand why it happens and how to prevent them. Muscle cramps normally last from a few seconds to up to fifteen minutes. On rare occurrences they can last longer than fifteen minutes. A cramp can persist numerous times until it eventually goes away. Cramps can effect the muscles differently - for instance it can affect a group of muscles, a single muscle, or even a specific part of a muscle. Its a better option if you visit the doctor soon for such thing.
