  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Murder mystery?

Anyone interested? I've been wanting to create a game where certain players are "cops" and try to figure out whodunnit, and then when they think they've found it, two players will play the defense attorney and prosecuting attorney. The jury would be NPC's, as well as the judge.
Two players would be the cops, and the rest would be the witnesses/suspects. Only one of those could be the real killer.
I'll be the prosecuting attorney unless someone else wants him. In which case I would revert to witness.
I'm allowing you to create your bios however you like, but the suspects have to be related to the incident.
So is anyone interested? If so we can begin discussing the specifics.

Great! I was thinking we would need several people, though. And the cops could double as witnesses in the courtroom half.
I would have to be a suspect, since I can't solve my own mystery, lol. But I would also be able to choose who was the killer, though that wouldn't be revealed unless it was figured out. The "killer" if not convicted (i.e. someone else was arrested because they were framed) would be a witness in the courtroom, and could be exposed if found out.
I'll go over rules for court later. It'll function similar to "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney", for simplistic reasons.
I've got kind of an idea on what the mystery will be, but I still need to think out a few details in the story. And once I do, a list of evidence will have to be made up for the Prosecuting Attorney. I'm not sure how to do the "collection of evidence" thing. Maybe I could describe a particular room when the cops "examine" it. Like.....
"Toby looked around the room for any clues as to the murder."
In which case I would describe the room and possible evidence. I'd throw in a couple of irrelevant things to throw them off, of course.

So what do you think we should do for the mystery, lady knight? This isn't just going to be MY thread. I'm open to suggestions. You can help with the victim's name, the way he/she died, etc. Since everyone is going to know how he/she died. He/she is the victim, after all.

humm...Have the motive already?
Serial killer or just a one time thing?
I have tons of ideas but...Is there any
thing specfic you have in mind?
Like the murder weapon..and cause of death..
I can ether post the idea here or pm it to you

I have a few ideas for evidence, too. Like, I could draw a floor plan of the murder scene. For court, the cop would then explain how they think it "happened", to the best of their knowledge.

Cool..Would you be able to post the floor plan on here?

I don't think I would... but I could ask Brilliand for help, too. I would either use a link to Photobucket or maybe a Wiki. We'll see.

And as far as details, I had an idea based on one of the cases from the DS game "Phoenix Wright", thought I'm not going to be copying it to the letter.
It's Christmas, and the scene is at a High School reunion. These two people haven't seen each other in a long time, so when they meet they're alone. They talk a little bit, then a gunshot rings out. I haven't gotten around to the rest of it, but the scene ends with the gun in the guy's hand. Of course, I can't spoil the whole idea for you. Then we couldn't use it...

So the murder weapon is a gun. But I need to have this occur in a special place in order for my idea to work. Or something.
The cause of death? Gunshot, of course. When we're creating evidence, I'll create the autopsy report that will be used in Court.

Well, I could share something I have in mind, now.
The scene is a high school. The victim and murderer were high school classmates, and all their classmates are there for their high school reunion. (I know, I've said stuff from above.) But instead of Christmas, let's make it New Year's Eve, just for the fact that I want to copy that DS game as little as possible. But it's nearby a lake, too, see? And they're both on a bridge, which spans this lake. It's a bridge for cars, of course. They talk, and whatnot. A shot rings out, and someone falls into the water. Then the scene ends with the guy and the gun in his hands. There, isn't that a little more organized?

First off, we have to decide how this is going to flow.

We'll begin, obviously, with some things. I know who I want to be though. I want to be the guy who has the gun at the end of that scene. But it's up to whoever the cops are to decide who they're going to arrest. This will flow like a normal story of course, but when the arrest is made, time will "fast-forward" so to speak to the Courtroom chapter. That's where the chapter begins. I'll allow people to play multiple roles. Like one of the cops can be the defense attorney or prosecutor. I myself might play a few "surprise" witnesses. I dunno yet. Let's make up a basic list, not too long, of the cast we want.

So, do we want one or two cops?
How many suspects do we have here? Obviously, my character will be the most obvious suspect, for other reasons.

Also, when a cop enters a possible scene where evidence may be, I'll intervene slightly to describe the scene around them. That will be thier big clue that something is in that room/area.
