I found this on slashdot, originally. Posted here only because it's a very interesting example - especially because it gives some insight into how a species with unusual sets of traits might form. If we put our minds to it, we might be able to arrange for this to be the beginning of a "mule" species - probably closer to a donkey or a horse than current mules, but quite possibly with some traits from the "other" species. This is interesting because, if such births have happened at least 60 times that we know of in the last ~500 years, this would be easily frequent enough for an occasional interesting gene to migrate from one species to another...
