Okay...when I was at Creation last week, there was a table set up there called "Ban MTV". I didn't see it myself, but someone told me about it. Is there really any reason that MTV should be banned? I'm a Christian, and I like some shows on it, like Real World. What are your opinions on it? Should it be banned, and why?

I would be a happy person if it were banned. Mostly everything contained on MTV is extremely wordly and is certainly not helping any Christians in their walks, nor is it giving the general person a positive view either.

You may like some shows on MTV, but most of them I'm sure you don't. Jesus doesn't want us to be luke warm, it's either hot or cold, no mixing. I honesly cannot imagine Jesus himself watching or approving or even feeling neutral about most of MTVs programming.

I've been a Christian for a long time, and I used to like a lot of things but I understand now that many of those were wrong and were taking away from my relationship with God. It's still a struggle to try and not compromise.. I love Punk'd but I realize that it's better for myself to make a small sacrifice and not watch it or anything on MTV at all.

Our laws allow MTV, and all peoples, a right to free speech, so they may continue to broadcast legally and that's fine. But I think there are a good few reasons for why MTV should be taken off the air.

I Dont Really Care For The Shows on MTV; but i Love Watching Music videos During Work Sometimes. Normally i Turn it to M2 or FUSE. Does That Make me Lukewarm? you Gotta Keep in Mind That Everyones Walk With Christ is Different, and we All struggled With different Things; and we all Have different Convictions. the Important Thing to Remember is To Love Others; regardless if They do Watch MTV- and Try Not to Judge.

i dont think they should include mtv or BET with networks like disney and nickelodean{SP}. you shouldnt have to block the channels. someone should be sued or something.

we Shouldnt Have to Block Certain Channels? They Should be Sued?

hmmm.
actually. i Think Proper Parenting is Essential For Proper Child Growth and Not Spending Too Much Time in Front of the TV. it Seems That 'rents Nowadays Have BOTH mother & father Working, and someone uses the TV as a babysitter. if Anyone Should be Sued, its Those Not Taking Care of Their Children.

Well, I think we should have more choice over what channels we get in a package, *but* I think it should be done like every other annoying selling tactic...by letter-writing and by not buying the service.

If life in today's society was that easy, we wouldn't need this discussion. (eep! I never thought I'd use that argument! )

Now, as for MTV as a whole, I've never seen it. (although I did and do watch MuchMusic and MuchMoreMusic) But I have seen MTV programs, and they are, well, kinda tactless, rude and annoying. Often they seem to be a constant set of put-downs, a generally negative enviroment. They are not shows for kids at all.

(arg, I forgot my other point!)
