Moving

As some of you already heard, I'm moving within a mont to the first real place of my own. *L* One of the things I will wish to have in my new place, are some visible signs of my faith, like we have here.
I will take along my beautiful statue of the Blessed Mother. But almost everything else belongs to my mother or to both of us.
Any advice on what to buy and where?

eve...since i don't live where you are i can't tell you where to purchase things, my only suggestion would be that you check out stores online.

As for what to buy...if i were you, i would consider having a room, or a corner of a room in your new place, devoted to prayer...perhaps you could purchase a kneeler ( i don't have one, but they look lovely and save the carpet burn on your knees).

I don't know if your new place will be furnished but if it isn't it could be quite expensive as you will need a cooker, a fridge/freezer, a washer ( unless there are launderette faciilities nearby) a bed, a wardrobe, and a sofa to start with...

as for your prayer corner...a crucifix, statue (s) pictures or icons and your Bible and a prayer book.

*laughs* My new place is a studio. One living/ sleeping room of 35 square meters, a good sized kitchen and a good sized bathroom. I know it sounds tiny, but you have to start somewhere.
If I want a true prayercorner it will have to be in a closet, since everything is multi functional. A sidetable that is a prolongment of the table for when I have guests, a bed that doubles as a couch, and a wardrobe that is also 'general cupboard'.

been there, done that!

i started off with just a bedroom in someone elses house and graduated to a shared house situation, then went up the ladder and got my own studio apartment...1 kitchen,1 bathroom, 1 other room that served as a bedroom, dining room, lounge area. It was miniscule!

Have no fear though....the priest at RCIA the other evening was telling us that there is nothing wrong with praying where we feel comfortable and that if we are at our most comfortable in bed, then perhaps you could do your devotions there!

I'm sure you'll find some way around the limited space available to you....well, either that or you'll move!
