Alright..they're doing their big world tour thing and they'll be stopping through Toronto sometime in February...as far as I know they haven't toured in a while and probably won't tour for quite a while after this? Correct me if I am wrong, I've only heard vague details...

But anyways. I know they're just one of 'those' bands..I haven't heard much if anything by them but I'd like to try to get into them and perhaps look at going to that show..I don't want to feel silly in 15 years for saying I could have gone to that show but chose not to..I know Iwill with the Concert for Toronto with the Stones and AC/DC a few summers ago!

So does anyone know anything more on this tour coming up, and could you recommend some Motley Crue songs that I should probably hear before passing a verdict on them? Thanks!

I can pretty much guarantee you that the show will be drinking age only. That's due to the drinking(duh) and the live strippers on the stage(who will probably also have lots of full on lesbian strap-on sex). I'm not saying that because I've been told that, I'm saying that because I've seen them before(last fall, so they do still tour a lot...although sometimes solo).

Most of their songs are about sex and heavy partying. Is that the kind of stuff that you should be subjecting yourself to as a Christian?

Paul instructs us to 'avoid all evil'(1 Thes. 5:22). Peter echos this when he says to 'abstain from sinful desires' in 1 Pet. 2:11. Jesus Himself tells us that even when we look at a woman with lust, we have already committed adultery(Matt. 5:28).

The music of Motley Crue stongly encourages lots of fun sex, heavy drinking and getting baked(and then some). You can expect to have quite a few joints being passed around the crowd as well, for your pleasure. I wouldn't recommend going or even getting into their music. Not that it isn't good, musically. It is that it's message and influence are extremely sinful.

Go and look up the lyrics for "Shout at the Devil", "Girls, Girls, Girls" or "Wild Side". Heck, give them a listen or watch the videos(if you don't mind the topless girls). Their mild compared to the live show. The Crue certainly won't help your soul.

hmm Motley Crue huh? although brutaii (apologies if i didnt spell that correctly) mayb be right in some areas, i would say motley crue is an opportunity you shouldn pass up on. however, i have very liberal christian views and most on christian forums probably have much stronger views than me. I am going to see them on their Red White and Crue tour when they come to dallas in march, the 27th i believe... my mother has purchased tickets for me for my birthday (you can get them early if you are a member) it is on a thursday, so for me it requires missing school, yet another great birthday present. Motley Crue is a very talented band, yet their concert may be disappointing if they play anything like they did on the video game awards... yikes! i recommend songs suck as Kickstart my heart, starry eyes, too fast for love, merry go round, etc. but he is also right in saying that dont go unless you dont mind the topless dancers and possible lesbian sex or whatever else they decide to throw onstage. but still I have to say GREAT BAND and seeing them in concert may be hard to do after this tour, who knows how much longer they will stick around, if you were lucky though then you missed the chicken dance!

Well, I'm not a Christian and I think I'll be fine with the topless dancers and lesbian sex! ;)

But the show is at the Air Canada Centre and as far as I can see (online) there is no indication that it is 19 +...I can't remember the last time the ACC had a restricted show, usually around here they do it at smaller club-type places if they are going to restrict ages.

Besides...I don't remember the ACC ever putting on a show with a lot of sex and nudity involved...I think their owners may have restrictions or something on the content..I'm honestly not sure, I should probably look into that just so I have some type of answer ready if my parents question me about show content :D

I definately want to see this tour when it comes around (doubt I'll be able to, though). While I'm not a diehard Crüe fan, I do really like the sound, and the opportunity to see a band that legendary doesn't come around very often.

Songs? Dr. Feelgood and Same Ol' Situation come to mind...I don't particularly care that much for Home, Sweet Home but you could try that one too.

It might have restrictions. I have no idea. When I saw Vince Neil(Motley Crue's lead singer) last year it was in Edmonton. It was age of majority and had plenty of naked girls on stage, plenty of topless girls in the crown and enough weed being passed around to get high without smoking it. A couple of night later, I saw Def Leppard at the same venue. It was all ages. The no drugs rule was enforced. Everytime that a bouncer saw someone light a joint, they would take it away. There were no girls lifting their shirts. It was a completely different atmosphere.

Why don't you just listen to the songs on one of their greatest hits discs? Those are most of the songs that they're going to be playing.

As far as I know this is the Crue's reunion farwell tour. As much as I would like to go, tickets are outrageous!!!! And Motley Crue isn't one of my favorite bands, but I like them nontheless. My brother and his girlfriend got fifth row. I will make him buy me a tour t-shirt! :)

To Breetai, I think your post is totally out of line. I understand that Crue sings about sex, drugs, etc. but a lot of these bands from that era have done this. There are a lot of bands that I listen to that talk about death and killing, but I have no desire to kill myself or anyone for that matter. Listening to music does not make you a bad person, unless you follow the lyrics like a cultist follows their leader.

You say you have seen Crue last fall, thats how you know about the lesbian sex(strap on)? Why are you telling this lad not to go see this (because it will not make him a good Christian?) when in fact you have seen them. So you can see them, but he can not. Doesn't that make you a "bad" Christian as well?

I don't know how they run things in Canada, but they have never had strippers or lesbians having sex on stage in the US (at least since I have been going to concerts). Sure some girls might take their tops off during the concert, which is very 80's hair metalish, but those are their actions, not the actions of the band. Most clubs ban such actions. And if this young lad at 14 can not get in, it is probably because they are playing at a bar, which the drinking age in Canada is 18. This happens in the US all the time, but the drinking age is 21 here.

In no way am I trying to hurt feelings or start a fight. If you are offended then I am truly sorry, that was not my intent. I am a good natured person. But Breetai, I found your post to be hypocritical and on many acounts wrong.

I didn't even notice that Draper wasn't a Christian when I read his first post. Obviously sinful influences aren't an issue for him.

I grew up listening to music like Motley Crue, Poison, KISS, etc. Their music has greatly influenced my thoughts and desires. Everything that you come into contact with in this world does. We are told, as Christians, to abtain from sin and from bad influences. I do not see how my post is out of line at all, given that I am giving Christian advice on a Christian message board. I'm probably the only one here to have posted a reasonable Christian post in this thread.

FYI, I have been to stadium concerts in Minneapolis and in North Dakota which were "over 21" only. They do exist. Maybe Motley Crue will be an all ages concert, I have no idea.

I don't know how they run things in Canada, but they have never had strippers or lesbians having sex on stage in the US (at least since I have been going to concerts).
Never???:D I've heard otherwise! Here's an example of someone witnessing this at a Crue concert in '99 in Wisconsin: http://www.ckyforums.com/index.php?showtopic=20253 (post #8). I've heard of more obscene reports than that from US shows. It wasn't a concert in a little bar either, it was at an 80,000 person venue. I'm pretty sure that you'd find a lot of other examples over at the MetalSludge message board.

Actually yes, you are right, it does make me a bad Christian. I was being hypocritical by going to some of these concerts when I knew what was going to be there and of participating in many of the acts which some of these bands promote.

Just so you know, the drinking age varies from 18 to 19 in Canada depending on which province you are in. For the majority of Canada, the drinking age is 19.

No worries about hurt feelings from me MetalBlade!

Listen to Kickstart my Heart, Dr. Feelgood and Wild Side. Those were my favorite songs by them.

Lyrics to Wild Side:

I carry my crucifix
Under my deathlist
Forward my mail to me in hell
Liars and the martyrs
Lost faith in the father
Long lost in the wishing well

Wild side

Fallen angels
So fast to kill
Thy kingdom come on the wild side
Our father
Who ain’t in heaven
Be thy name on the wild side

Holy mary
Mother may i
Pray for us on the wild side
Wild side, wild side

Name dropping no-names
Glamorize cocaine
Puppets with strings of gold
East L.A. at midnight
Papa won’t be home tonight
Found dead with his best friend’s wife

Wild side

Fatal strikes
We lie on the wild side
No escape
Murder rape
Doing time on the wild side
A baby cries
A cop dies
A day’s pay on the wild side
Wild side, wild side
Tragic life on the wild side
Wild side, wild side
Kickin’ ass on the wild side

Nobody doubted that Motley Crue has "bad" music, lyrically. Heck, back when they started they used to be Satanic, pentagrams and all. I listen to stuff that is worse then Crue, but I love God and worship Him the same. It's not like I bow down and worship and follow these people into their lifestyles. Even the guitarist from Possessed, one of the most Satanic Heavy Metal bands, has said if you actually do this stuff (meaning practice Satanism) then you are a moron.

Along that line of thought, I don't mind listening to GWAR. Their lyrics are so outrageous that it's pretty impossible to take them seriously.
