  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Thought we should focus on Biblical mothers.

Mary is the first that comes to mind.
I believe she knew to some degree how special Jesus was.
She was there when he performed his first miracle at the wedding feast.
And then how much grief she must have had at the foot of the cross.

And then I think of Mary's cousin, Elizabeth, who birthed John the Baptist.
I think of when the two woman met when pregnant...
It must have felt odd when the babe in her womb leaped when in the presence of Jesus in his mother's womb.

The next woman we do not know her name.
She was willing to give up her child so he would not be killed.
For her selfless act she was awarded her child after all.

I Kings 3:24-27

24 Then the king said, "Bring me a sword." So they brought a sword for the king.

25 He then gave an order: "Cut the living child in two and give half to one and half to the other."

26 The woman whose son was alive was filled with compassion for her son and said to the king,
"Please, my lord, give her the living baby! Don't kill him!"
But the other said, "Neither I nor you shall have him. Cut him in two!"

27 Then the king gave his ruling: "Give the living baby to the first woman. Do not kill him; she is his mother."

My first thought is of Eve. We mostly think of her as the one Satan deceived...and she fed Adam that pesky apple. Gen. 2:12

But she was the first woman. God said :"It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him." Gen. 2:18

And Adam said of Eve :"This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man."

Eve was the first "wife". Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Gen. 2:23-24

Eve is also called "mother of all the living". And Adam called his wife's name Eve, because she was mother of all the living. Gen. 2:20
