I know a Mormon girl, and I would like to know what you think about them. Saved? Not saved? Why or why not?
Short and to the point.
It is not for us to judge anyone's salvation.

The mormon docterin is a farse, I know, cause I grew up in the cult of mormonisim. We may judge the doctorine of religion, but not the people.

For God so LOVED the WORLD that He gave His only begotten SON that whosoever BELIEVES in Him shall be SAVED. For God DID NOT send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but THROUGH HIM that it may be SAVED.

WE are saved by GRACE and NOT by work, less anyone may boast.

Ask your mormon friends what they believe about Christ, then ask them if they ever studied on why most Christians condemn the religion. Take them into a study if possible, but let the spirit take charge, give all control to the Holy Spirit, only He may guide them into all truth.

So, you don't think that we are in a way taught how to answer questions that unbelievers would ask? Or how to respond to them?

Not at all..that much is apparent just by reading posts on this forum

I've never been to a church that taught specific answers to give when given specific questions.
It's programming.

In Christian churches we are freely allowed to learn and study on our own and with others. In Mormonism it is GREATLY discourged that you do anything on your own.
Never question. Which is the complete opposite of Christianity...in which questioning is part of learning.

Well I know that, I just seem to be unable to clearly explain what I'm trying to say.

Not specific answers but something such as "you may be asked these questions and you should answer in this way (or something like that)"
If you don't understand what I'm saying, sorry.

I was in the mormon church for quite a while and their doctrinal beliefs differ greatly from the traditional doctrines held by christians. I don't think they are saved from the viewpoint that they don't accept the gift of grace that God provides the way we do; they believe that one has to work his way into one of the two upper levels of heaven. There are many more issues than this to consider with them, but then, only God knows for sure when all is said and done.

With Jesus there is life, without the wrath of God. And Jesus is not the Mexican boy it's the Person the Bible tells us about. Not a made up Jesus in some man's mind.

There is only one gate. We can say that people from other religions may jump in over the fence some other way, far be it from us to judge them, but it's a lie that Jesus talked about.

Mormons are for the most part good people with comendable commitments to family, evagelism and study of their faith. We could all learn something form them!

However They do not beleive in the same Jesus of the Bible, they beleive jesus is the bother of satan. the believe God came down and physically had sex with Mary, that good debout mormans can be come gods of their own plannets and inhabit them physically, buy having babies in the heavenly realms. They beleive in Salvation through grace and works, not grace alone!

I get it.
I can honestly say I have no pre-programmed replies to questions. Every conversation I have with someone unsaved is ALWAYS different. I don't think i've ever been to a church that says "Ok, these are the questions unsaved will ask. Here are the answers you need to give them"

Everytime I talk to someone it's always different...the conversation is always changing and evolving. I never know what to expect.

In the case of Mormonism...you DO know what to expect. They all have the same answers because that is what they are taunt to say. They are also taught to give specific verses from the bible or the book of mormon. I've never given verses to a non-christian. Because they don't believe the bible in the first place...seems pointless.

No. Mormon and Christian are different on every level. I've stumped many mormons simply by avoiding their "traps" all together...and you know what happens EVERY time? They get mad. Why? Because they weren't taught how to respond to that situtation.

I remember the story of a man who came across a situtation like that. He didn't have an answer for a question...so he wrote the leaders of Mormonism. They send him back a reply...but never answered his question. They don't have the answers either...they just program their people, send em out into the world and expect them never to question.

As an ex-mormon, i found myself agreeing with everything you have said, this to me is rather sad and i take no pleasure in saying that as i still have lots of friends in the church.

Most of them are so brainwashed they dont know up from down and the ones who are not are to busy climbing the church ladder to even care if its true or not.

I think Shallow pretty much nails it really.
However i have meet many mormons who are good people but they are usually not in positions of power unless there willing to kiss up.

Just so you know; I was excommunicated from the LDS church for something that was completly my own fault and have no bitterness towards anyone in the church and hope that they will one day find the truth and find Jesus.

Hopfully one day i will be able to trust another church and be a more productive christian.

They believe St. Michael was Adam; Given the honour of being the first man on earth was his reward for throwing Satan out of Heaven.

I'm an ex Mormon and I remember shortly after joining a statement a missionary made. He said "they (Christians) ask you if you're saved, and you're like, 'Saved from what? There's nothing you need to get [total disdain]saved[/total disdain] from." with a half ignorant, half arrogant look on his face. That should have sent some LOUD alarm bells ringing, but didn't for almost 4 years.

Ok, I have to throw my two cents in here with the rest of your opinions, first let me ask you all this, who the ^%@# are you to decide who is or is not saved? When we get to Heaven I believe you all will be surprised who is there and who is not there, that minister who is there when the doors are open, preaches the word and all that jazz, but he commits adultery on his wife, gets drunk and has a drug problem that nobody ever knew about because everyone thinks he has to be perfect, guess who did not make it to the gate…

But that guy that goes to church once and a while, who does not sin against God, but he has nothing, no car, homeless, the gentleman we all pass by as a beggar, guess who is at the tree of life, who are we to tell God who is or is not saved? I don’t know if you are or not, I don’t know for fact if my own dad is, what I do know is that I am, and I have to spread Gods word for him to harvest the souls that he chooses, not me.

To the ex-Mormon’s, good job, I actually have a few friends who are Mormons, and getting out (here at least) is not that easy, they threaten to kill your family and friends if you leave the church, I know because I have been there while the threats were being made, and I got in BIG trouble while I was at a friends house while she was trying to get out, 3 of the church elders walked in and threatened her and all three left in an ambulance for doing so. Yes, I may go to hell for doing what I did, but I do not regret it, and I would do it again.

This should be a discussion on how to witness to Mormon’s, not whether they are saved or not. While I witness to Mormon’s, I bring up the fact that the Holy Bible was written by more than one person who saw the spirit/angel that told him how or what to write, as the book of Mormon was written by one man while he was alone. That the Holy Bible tells us that Marriage is One man and One Woman, and there are several different Christian religions that support this, As the book of Mormon teaches in multiple wife’s, there are numerous contradictions that set off flags, and with some commonsense and some time people (some of them) will come to the light.

How do you witness to people of different faith?

Funny that i should see this topic today. in my home group last night was looked into a bit of the Mormons beliefs and one was that they believe that the angel Micheal was Jesus.

I can't say saved or not saved as i don't know each indevidual one.

from what i know though the believe the following.

Jesus was created by God - he is not God and was created to create the world.

They do not believe in the triune God. They see the holy spirit as a force like electricity and the holdy spirit is not part of God.

They believe that only 144000 will be in Heaven with God, the rest will live in Paradise on Earth.

They believe that it is through works rather than faith that someone will get to either heaven or paradise.

Some of those things are a matter in interpration and i don't think it really affect wheather you are saved.

The only Mormons that could be saved would be very bad Mormons.

On the other hand, one old guy set me in my place when he said, "you know, when I get up to heaven and talk to Jesus, I'll probably find out that his doctrine is a lot different than mine"

Since that day I try to leave a little room. But it is hard for me to leave room for Mormons. I know to many of them and know their doctrine.

The book of Abraham is another joke. And their prophet is a joke. You can go on and on and then you have to realize that these are real people...some of them friends that believe this stuff. You still need to deal with them on a day to day basis and accept them as normal, functioning people.

Actually that sounds more like Jehovah's witnesses views with are far different than Mormans but they are commonly mistaken for each other
