I found this site to be helpful: http://www.utlm.org/

I have found that once you knw your own doctrine well, you can educate those who come to proselytize.
I agree here. Know what you believe and why and just share, no need to "preach" per-say. Your planting seeds not saving souls, that's God's job.

you make some excellent points here - I remember hearing the folks on the White Horse Inn say something to the effect of we'll likely be surprised by some of the folks we meet in heaven - including some with faulty doctrine. Not saying all Mormons will be in heaven, but neither will all Baptists.

thanks for the link - it brings another thought to mind. I've heard many say that they wouldn't read books such as the Koran or the Book of Mormon. I think that's a mistake - knowing where they're coming from is important because then we can go to Scripture to counteract their claim if they did want to argue (as NRB mentioned)

I am now working on witnessing to some Mormons, and my grandmother is an Ex-Mormon. I am currently intending on witnessing by questioning the fact that the Book of Mormon differs fundamentally from the other "revelations" of Joseph Smith. This is very important because most Mormons have almost zero clue what their church actually teaches. Many just think that it is just another denomination. After I have them sufficiently doubting their faith, I will bring out the big guns against their "prophet" Joseph Smith. I pray every night about this family, and I pray for strength in witnessing opportunities.

Interesting to note that the Mormon church focuses on converting Baptists because of some surface doctrinal similarity. Remember, Mormons deceive people as to their doctrine and most don't know their church's true doctrine so be weary when a Mormon tries to convert you.

I want to clarify something here....someone mentioned the NWT(New World Translation) of the "bible". That is published by the WatchTower Bible and Tract Society....ie, Jehovah's Witnesses.
Every mormon I've known has used the KJV.

Thanks for listening.

thats not entirely accurate........ though they do give a difference between God and Jesus( which is absurd, they are one and the same). they also claim that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers, which is equally absurd, because to insinuate that would be putting Satan to an equal footing with God Himself, which would refute the truth that God is allpowerful. I happen to have friends who are mormons and though they dont exhibit the cult-based faith that everyone else does (i.e. their brainwashing) They do happen to follow the mormon beliefs to the letter. Its almost impossible to bring them to their senses without making them see things they dont want to see, which is counter-productive because they will just disbelieve it.....

I agree with the prayer as a solution for them, but also try to work on them from a scholarly point of view. When a mormon elder asks you if they can preach to you, ask if you can preach to them, if the agree then their minds are open enough to plant the seed... if they refuse, then the soil is dry and bereft of the water of life... in english that means that they arent willing to be preached to, and that trying to do so will get you nowhere.
