I want to thank God for answering my prayers, even though I have sinned against Him frequently.
Last weekend I was doing my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and had to walk 80km in the Lake District in England and camp for 3 nights.
Before I left, I was very doubtful of whether I could complete it because I had a bad experience a year ago and was unable to complete any walks since.
I prayed to the Lord for strength and determination and for help when I felt like quitting.
During the walks although we had many disasters I found that I remained calm and optomistic which is unusual for me.
It was almost as if God was there beside me, and when I felt at my lowest and felt i couldn't go on, it actually felt as if someone had lifted some of the weight of my pack from off my back and was pushing me up the mountain.
It was amazing and I can only thank God from the depths of my heart for helping me to overcome my fears and self doubts. I can hardly even put into words what I am trying to thank God for, or how grateful I am for His help.
All I can say is that I have never felt closer to God than I did when struggling on those mountains, or than I do now.
As the saying goes: God IS great!!
