As I wrote sounds doesn't exist on a DVD without a DVD player to decode it. Then the DVD player send another code (HDMI) to the HDTV which decodes that signal finally creates the image on screen and sound through the speakers.What do you mean sound doesn't exist without a DVD player? At no point is there any overarching intelligence that knows what the end product will be. Evolution does not have foresight. Thus, each stage must be - and, indeed, is - a gradual improvement over the last. It doesn't matter if no intelligence knows it's an improvement, all that matters is that it is an improvement, and so it will flourish in the population.
