Jake is having a reaction to the surgical staples the vet used to close his incision, and he's not healing as fast as he should and there is still a lot of drainage. He's on antibiotics, but I know there is no medicine stronger, faster and more effective than the prayers of the saints!
The operation was $850 and I really want to be a good steward of God's money, and I'm sure that doing the surgery was the right thing, so please pray that Jake won't get any sicker and that his incision will heal right.
Part of it is healing very well and is nice and closed and dry, but a small part is continuing to be wet and puffy and draining. I am up right now cleaning and dressing it again, because he took off the bandage and was leaking all over my quilt. YUCK!
I am so worried. He's sleeping fine, and his appetite and energy is great. He really wants to resume normal dog life, and Joe took him for a little walk around the block last night, which he loved. His swelling is way down and he's almost back to normal size. He's heathy in every possible way except that his incision isn't healing right. They can't take out the staples until tuesday!
And we aren't going to be able to go to my family's for Thanksgiving, which really bums me out because I haven't seen them since August, because they live in Cleveland, 250 miles away. I guess that's what's bumming me out the most today, that we aren't going to get to do thanskgiving with them. I've only missed one thanksgiving with them my whole life. Wherever I am at thanksgiving, I always find a way to be with my family, no matter how far I have to travel. But we can't have Jake leaking all over their house for three days.
My sister's pretty mad, too.
So pray for us here in the middle of night.
And thanks for listening to all this, especially since I know I'm not coherent at 3 AM.

I will miss spending Thanksgiving with my family too, because it's a 460 mile trip (one way) , and I'm not able to travel that far.
